Did Colt ever make a lightweight 1/7 11.5 A2 carbine?

What model?

M933-M16A2 Commando,Auto fire, 11.5" bbl, 1/7 twist

M935-M16A2 Commando, Burst fire, 11.5" bbl, 1/7 twist

Source: "The M16/AR15 Rifle" by Joe Poyer

The source "Black Rifle II" lists these as R0933 and R0935 and calls them M16A4s as opposed to A2s

This source lists the R0733 R0734 , R0735 , R0737 and R0738 as A2s with 11.5" bbls, 1/7 twist

Would put my money on the second source.

This is all wrong.

A 93X series gun is a flattop.

A 73X series is a A1 sight upper.

A A2 upper with 11.5" barrel is not a cataloge item.  Few were made and generally not avaliable.

The data presented from "Black Rifle II", pages 272 and 273, were quoted accurately.   The weapon model numbers for the 73x Series were listed as M16A2, which I interrpreted as the point of the question.  If this Model listing isn't correct, let's sue the Publisher of the source.  There was additional data (barrel config, sight config, etc)also presented in the source that I didn't repeat in the post in the interested of KISS, but may be relevent to the questioner, and if it is the questioner can go direct to the source and sort out what he needs.

The 9xx Series were noted as M16A4s in BRII as noted in my post.  The source goes on to state these are flat-tops.

As a person who has interaction daily with the author of that publication, you are wrong.

All commerical series guns use a lower marked M16A2.  That doesn't mean the upper is an A2 upper.

All 73X series guns have an A1 sight upper by default.
