I have this awesome perfect very accurate NEVER jams (did I mention perfect )COLT Commander 38 Super 1911....champagne color!!!!!!! I cleaned it carefully and put it back together according to the specs. Twice!!!!! BUT NOW THE PERFECT SAFETY WON'T GO ON!!!!! Unless the gun is cocked. Ok y'all need to understand how much this gun means to me and I need expert guidance. ASAP What did I do wrong and what should I check? Understand, the entire universe is out of alignment until i can get this figured out. Yup female shooter and this is my best friend!!!! Help!!!!! |
![]() Ok I am thinking of remaining calm. For now. Until I can get a gun guru to look at it. It seems to me the safety could go on cocked or not. Or is that when there is a mag in the gun? It has a double safety on it. One top released with the thumb and a grip safety. It is the one on the top of the gun that won't set. Just making sure. I know I am sounding stupid BUT I am rather new to this. And a female...hence the absolute panic. I LOVE MY GUN...almost as much as my kids. Comes in a close second. |

Quoted: If it's a Series 80 pistol, there are three safeties: an internal firing pin safety; a grip safety; and a thumb safety. The thumb safety doesn't engage unless the hammer is cocked. Let's see some pics of the pistol!!
