Anyone noticed the FCG for the new LE6920s?  The selector can go to fire with the hammer forward and the portion that the sear rests on looks like half of what it should be.

Sorry if this is a dupe.  Did a search and came up with nothing.

Got mine from SAW and it came with the funky selector lever and FA BCG.

I would pull the FCG completely out of the lower and do a very close inspection.  Something is not correct.

The safety still works with the hammer cocked back.  Nothing appears to be missing or broken.  I'll take pics and post later.  Wifey has the camera.

Function test the lower.

Verify that the hammer locks to the rear when pushed back.

Verify that the hammer pivots forward when the trigger is pressed.

Without releasing the trigger, push the hammer back again and verify that it locks (caught by disconnector).

Releasing the trigger should not cause the hammer to pivot fully forward (now caught by trigger).

Hammer should only fall when trigger is pressed now.

Done.  It functions as designed...with the exception of the selector rotating to safe when the hammer is in the forward position.

I see three possibilities.

If the tolerance of one of three pieces in the FCG is off this could happen.

#1 If the surface of the trigger is milled to far.

#2 If the bottom of the hammer is not machined to the proper tolerance this will allow the trigger to clear the ground out portion of the safety selector allowing it to go into safe with the hammer forward.

#3 The safety selector is not machined correctly.

Does the hammer fall when in the safe position?

Do you have any extra parts?  Try switching them one by one or send it back to Colt.

By the way, Nice piece!

The safety works like its supposed to when the hammer is back.  I don't have any extra large pin FCGs laying around to troubleshoot.

I guess buying a new Colt FCG (SAW, etc...) should solve the issue, rather than time wasted sending it to them and waiting for it to come back (not an easy task when you live out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean) .

Thanks for the help and glad you like .

BTW - Do the circled areas look normal?  I ask because my Sporter II has both legs instead of one.

Yep, the circled areas are normal.

Call Colt and explain your situation.  Ask them to send out a new FCG, they are usually pretty good about this especially in your situation.
