I am a LEO and I am debating putting a order on a LE1020. Anyone know how Colt's piston system matches up to the HK, LW, or POFs. I can not find anything on the operating system of this thing. Thanks Ryan |

I thought it was pretty clear, but how do you expect someone to give feedback when no one has seen one outside of Colt, or a select few outsiders that Colt has shown it to (outside of seeing one on the wall at SHOT). Remember it was first unvieled at SHOT. So if someone answers "How it matches up to HK, LW, POF" it will most likely be speculation. |
The third pic down with the KAC rail is not a piston upper. |
I'm on a couple of list but I remember at least one place that was accepting a $200 deposit in order to secure your order. If your interested IM or email me and I'll go back throught my emails on my laptop and find the names for you. |

It looks like the 10 series was born out of the SCAR competitions. Small Arms Review article details the Colts submissions and this upper was clearly part of the plan Not sure if Colt set out to make a new LE line of carbines/rifles, and the SCAR guns, or if the idea of the LE series came about after the SCAR design. Or if it matters Now Colt, Cobb, and Robinson Arms, have SCAR designs for sale to the general public* * Was L-W a SCAR competitor? If so, add them. |

There is no such thing as a semi-auto LEO only Colt. There are dealers taking preorders with prices ranging from $1200 to $1500. |
Bradd_D is correct The Colt LE series guns are available to all law abiding citizens that otherwise are legally able to own an AR15 (state bans notwithstanding) The LE Only business was born out of the original AWB that had a legal requirement of manufacturers to engrave on certain guns (and some parts, magazines) the words: RESTRICTED LAW ENFORCEMENT/GOVERNMENT USE ONLY LINK to the law requiring such markings Colt and some others have what they call a "Law Enforcement" line of models. It is more a marketing designation since the sunset of the AW law. Since 14 September, 2004, it has been a moot point. Get in line, get ready to whip out and you too can have one, .............or two |

I was reading a November 06 issue of SOF, they had a picture of a LE1020 with gas piston and detachable barrel. The picture had the barrel detached off the gun and gun was on a bipod. All the LE1020 guns I’ve seen didn’t have a detachable barrel. I was wondering is this same colt LE 1020 or SOF had some wrong information on the model and colt is also coming out with another gas piston upper with detachable barrel? Anyone have any info on this? |

Not what I wanted to hear...timeline-wise. Spoke with a great guy at Colt. He took the time to chat for about 10 minutes with me about the 1020. End of 1st quarter possible start of production (I had been hoping that production had already begun). Engineers still tinkering with: Rail design...will be monolithic nonetheless. Possible stock changes...didn't elaborate other than to mention submersion-proof/water-proof. Whether or not to make the 1020 to it's own specs or to make it in a manner that makes kits available to currently produced-lower owners if they so desire (i.e. 6920, etc.). He said all in all, he is anxious for its release so he can start selling them, and that it still greatly resembles the one that we all drooled over at SHOT. That's all I have, but I thought I'd pass it on. I am really really anxious for this one! |

Thanks for the update, brother. . . A couple new links: le1020 Colt New Mod LE1020 Advanced LE Carbine |
| Looks like the LE1020 won't be produced until 2nd Quarter of 2007, at the earliest. Redfisher has some good stuff on his thread Colt at SHOT Show. |
