I have a 20" HBAR A2. It has a threaded bbl however no lug. I'm wondering if I can send it back and have a new FSB put on? Is it possible to drive to you guys and have it done in person. If not...and I have to mail it, what would be my expected turn around time? Oh and how much? Thanks! [email protected]

Colt won't do the work, you'd have to have someone else do it. You could use ADCO (forum is down a ways on the Industry list) and they'll do a fine job, or just do it yourself if you buy one. (it's not hard.)

Do I need to buy a Colt one or will one from like Bushy work? If I need one from Colt, where can I get one? Thanks!

A Bushmaster FSB will work on a Colt as will all millspec sight bases of same diameter.
If you want to stay with all Colt parts you can order from their only distributors Brownells and
Specialized Armament Warehouse. Good Luck.

i would get some more input on the Do it yourself option.  NightOwl I'm not calling BS but I have read many a post that contradict your position, please understand this.

I personally have attempted to install a new FSB on a Colt HBAR probably back in '93.  At the time it was not a DIY project.  The FSB came from Colt with no holes for the taper pins. This meant I had to index the FSB perfectly and then drill the holes to match the barrel notches perfectly.  It was an impossible undertaking.

in the manufacturing process the FSB is installed, the barrel and FSB are placed in a jig and then the taper pin holes are drilled which rounds out the "notches" in the bottom of the barrel at the same time. I think the Black Rifle II goes into this a bit.  Good luck..
