I keep seeing for sale what amounts to an SP1 upper, but with the teardrop forward assist.  Seemingly advertised as factory assembled at Colt from all Colt parts.  What's the deeal with these?  Are they legit or not?  Any help would be appreciated.

TIA

I recently saw such ads  too.

True SP1 uppers would have the large pivot pin hole and no forward assist.

The uppers in the ads have the forward assist and say nothing about the size of the pivot pin.

My guess is these are actually M16a1 uppers with the standard size pivot pin.

Yeah I am hoping for small hole, but I guess either way will work.  I just hate to plunk down the cash for Colt factory and not get it.  The closest place to me is too far for a drive- just barely.

Get a M-16 from that era, not a SP1 and it will be small hole.

You can find them floating around the EE.

ETA: M-16 upper receiver not lower.
