Just picked up a Colt full size rifle. 20 inch heavy barrel/no lug A2 sights Slab side lower Serial #mh06XXX Any idea which model this is? Thanks for the replies. |
Are you sure about the Green label? I thought Green labels had SP serial# prefixes. And the MH prefix was Blue Label? And yes, I'm too lazy to check out www.biggerhammer.com. BTW...what's up with the chick in your avatar M4arc? I swear sometimes it looks like the angle has changed. She's kinda' spooky.

It depends on when it rolled off the line. Because he said it's a slab-side lower it's more than likely to have a large front takedown pin and a standard size (.155") fire control group...classic signs of a green label. However, the lack of bayo lug is a classic sign of a blue label so who knows? We're all well aware that Colt bastardized thousand and thousands of rifles, using whatever parts they had laying around. Let's compromise and say it's a white box, cool? My avitar is actually the album cover from A Perfect Circle's - Thirteenth Step. If you think it's freaky you should see the video |

I seriousy doubt it's a Green Label and would personally not believe it to be a Green Label unless someone can show us a Green Label box with the correct model and serial numbers on it. The description of this Colt sounds just like my R6601 Sporter Match HBAR. 20" HBAR, no lug, slab side, large pivot pin, large trigger pins, ser block etc. That's exactly how the early Blue Labels were built. |

It could not be a green label. While the physical features of green vs. blue can be a bit overlapping (or a lot overlapping), the model name and corresponding serial number is what makes the gun really a blue or green label. When Colt dropped the AR15-A2 Match Hbar (green-R6600), it then started with the Sporter Match Hbar (blue-R6601). I've seen just about every combination of features on both colored guns, including a searblocked green label, a non-searblocked A2 reinforced blue label, and a slab sided, small front pivot pinned gun. Those three particular guns are really, really weird. |
