I purchased a 9mm Match Target Lightweight a few years ago. This is the post-ban version. Does anyone know what the going rate is on these things? I'm in one of those positions where I may have to sell... Thanks. |

The Colt serial number with the alpha prefix tells you a lot about the AR-15, i.e., NL0040XX, TA100XX. Tells you if it is a Preban or Postban, Law Enforcement or Civilian. Example: I purchased a Colt NIB Preban AR-15 from a very knowledgeable Dealer (So he thought) in the Northeast that said the AR-15 he had was a Postban. It did not bother me because I bought it for a steal. It was a verified Colt Preban and I knew the Colt serial numbers. Stokes may be able to answer if Colt made any Postban 9mm AR-15s. I thought they may have made a few, but I am not sure. But serial number with the prefix will tell if it is a Preban or Postban. |
| I spoke with a Colt rep at a gun store not that long after the ban and asked him specificially why they had quit making the new post ban 9mm Match Target. I was told it was discountinued because of lack of interest, and that AR buyers want .223. I believe the real truth is a lack of magazines for this system and Colt at the time trying to move away from AR's with their then owners. Its a shame because the post ban 9mm is a nice gun, and it is only missing the flashider from the pre ban blue label 9mm. |
