I have a SPARC (it's the second one, a replacement for a defective original one) and it will only turn on if I remove the battery and reinstall. It won't turn off with the button either. It appears to have battery power in that it will turn on if the battery is removed and reinstalled.

Crickets from Vortex.   Some years ago, I talked them about problems with my Sparc and they  told me to live with it.  Did not even offer to take it back.  They told me to buy the newer upgraded version.   Made me a bit skeptical concerning their warranty.

That's really surprising that someone here would have treated you that way. I'm one of the owners and that's not how I expect our customer service to treat people and that's literally the only time I've ever heard anyone say anything like this.

Please PM me your name and address. I would like to look into what happened and take care of it for you.

As to the OP, sorry that we missed this. We changed the person who normally monitors the forum and I think some things slipped through during the transition period. What you describe sounds to me like a low battery. I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but the battery can actually get drained to the point where it has enough power to run the dot, but not enough to tell the microcontroller to shut it off. Can you try a fresh battery and see if that helps? Also, PM me your contact info and I'd be happy to send you some batteries.

Once again, sorry that we missed this. Thanks for your patience.

Thanks Sam for the information and the battery offer. It sounds like a new battery will solve the issue. This type of customer service is one of the reasons I own Vortex products (several of them)

It is only fair for me to post  that after an IM exchange that they offered to rectify the problem that I had with my SPARC.  They truly do stand behind their product.

I have to update and let everyone know that Vortex went way past above and beyond customer service here. Sam sent me some batteries (I was figuring he could stick a couple loose one in an envelope but he ordered a card of 5 off Amazon and had them shipped directly to me) and the SPARC works perfectly. Then I received another package from Vortex, with a couple t-shirts and a hat (nice stuff BTW). All because I wasn't sure if there was a problem with my sight, which there wasn't. I will continue to buy Vortex with confidence, they stand by their products.
