I have maybe a funny question. When you turn the turret (e.g. elevation one) up to the top with certain amount of power, it stops at the top, then you turn it back to zero stop, also with certain amount of power, it stops at zero. Or it should. The shims stop it. When you have them in place. However in my case, some time it stops at zero, the other time it stops at 1 click below zero. Sometimes even at two clicks below, depending on the amount of torque I apply on the nob. Depends how strong I push down the shims I guess.
My question is, after the turret stops (at whatever click) and I turn it back from zero to e.g. 1mil sign, it should always hold the 1mil, correct? No matter if my zero stops at 1, 2, or 3 clicks below zero. The 1mil elevation sign should always hold the same value, right? You know, I have this weird feeling, the more I push back to zero stop, the more I push on the shims and my 1mil elevation hold moves as well. I have not a proof, just want to make sure the torque on the elevation nob, no matter what strong, does not mess with the clicks. Do you get my point? :) Thanks for re-assuring... |

There's a certain amount of play in the shims, and if you really reef on it, they'll compress past your zero.
But. Your zero is always your zero. Just because you can cram the shims together doesn't mean your zero moved down .2-.3 mils. All you're doing is trying to wreck your scope. |
