Got my Strikefire a couple of weeks ago. Vortex's excellent customer service was willing to swap out my high mount for a low mount, and I soon had it sitting on top of my Sig 556. Didn't get a chance to hit the range until today, and I was looking forward to getting the rifle sighted in.
Decided to shoot it at 25 yards first, zero it there, and then move it out ot 50 so the adjustments wouldn't be so dramatic. A couple of range regulars spotted for me, and it took about 12 shots to get it on the bullseye at 25. I was also teaching my friend to shoot today, and the very first centerfire rifle he'd ever shot was my Sig 556. It took him about 5 rounds to get bullseyes with the Strikefire. Moving to 50, it only took a few more rounds and a handful of clicks to get it down to near perfect. It's great being able to shoot with both eyes wide open and being confident that whatever that dot is on is gonna get a hole punched in it. I've shot nothing but iron sighted rifles for the past 5 years, and now that I've got those basics down, the scope is a wonderful enhancement. Sighting in the scope was so easy even I could do it, and I do not get along with scopes at all. The buttons are a little on the soft side, but not a problem. In bright daylight and in overcast lighting the dot was strong and bright. I said in the thread about swapping out the mounts that if the scope was as good as the customer service, I'd outfit all my rifles with Strikefires. Well, I'm sold. Might take me a few years, but eventually every battlerifle I own is gonna wear one of these scopes. I'll also be looking very seriously at a bigger Vortex for my long-range AR build once that's put together. Thanks for a great product and great customer service. |
