So I've looked around at various optics and now it's time to pull the trigger on a Vortex Strikefire.  Which package should I order that would fit best with a Sig 556 - high mount or low mount?  And will it be possible to cowitness with the Sig folding backup sights?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not terribly familiar with the sights on the Sig 556, but if I'm not mistaken it seems that the stock Sig sights are pretty low. If that is the case, you will probably want the low mount. However, I seem to recall that a lot of people are putting aftermarket flip slights on their Sigs that are designed to the AR15 height. If that is the case, you will want the high mount.

If you know the distance from the top of the rail on the receiver to the top of the front sight post then that will help.

These are the measurements from the top of the rail to the dot in the StrikeFire of the two mounts we have available:

Low Mount (Hunt): 0.8125"
High Mount (AR15): 1.5625"

That should give you an idea of where your irons will fall in the field of view with the different mounts. Let me know if this helps.
