Greetings,
I'm in the market for a new spotter.  It will see occasional range time out to 300 yds, and time in the field hunting elk, mulies, and speedgoats.  I'm looking for pros/cons on these two.  Price difference between them is irrelevant.  Is the 45-60x worth it on the nomad, even with a smaller objective?  Any pros/cons between the two would be appreciated.

Thanks much!

Mark,

The two scopes are really pretty close. Personally, I do like the  Stokes version just a bit more because of the eyepiece and slightly larger objective lens.  However, it is also a bit bulkier and of course tops out at 45X.

The 15-45 eyepiece on the Stokes is a better match power-wise to the 60/65mm objective lenses and it is also slightly higher in quality than the 20-60 used on the Nomad. I'd go with the Sandpiper as long as you can live without 60X power !

Hope this helps,
