Mark, I’m not sure what your billet lengths are coming in at, but the 13.2” handguard is coming up just a tad short to completely cover most rifle length lo pro gas blocks.
Am I the only one that would like to see a revision to 13.5” or even 13.75”? At those lengths, they would still work fine on 14.5” barrels. You typically only need 3/4” difference between barrel and rail length to mount up a QD suppressor. Or keep the 13.2” and offer a 14.2”. That would be a perfect length for 18” barrels IMO |

Anyone else notice on theirs that the top rail is slightly lower than the receiver rail?
I have two, and both appear to be ever so slightly off. Granted I don't have tools for accurate measurement, but this has been my observation on both the 7.0 and the 13.2 I have. |

Quoted: Two different uppers on the first, just the one on the second. Tightened. It's minor, but there. I was just curious if anyone else noticed theirs exhibiting similar tendencies. I used a t-square, so not the most whiz bang scientific method, but there you have it. View Quote |

Can you guys post a photo? Run a straight edge across the top.
I've got a few other manufacture's handguards that have a slight drop in the rail height at the seam where the handguard rail contacts to the upper receiver rail. It's just enough of a drop that you can see it feel it, but I'd say it's not much more than a hair thickness difference. It's the reason most manufactures say that even if their rail goes to the upper, to not bridge the gap/seam between the rail and the upper. |
|
That's pretty typical. If I have time I'll try to take a similar photo of my YHM rail in the next week and post it for you.
That said, if Mark wanted to chime in, I'm sure he could provide some insight as to how/why it works out that way. If I had to venture to guess, I'm sure there's some variable due to tolerance in placement of the barrel opening/center bore of the upper combined with additional tolerance in the top rail dimensions on the upper. Attached File The above print shows the tolerances in the notes. Edit to add- those tolerances aren't an issue with the top rail on monolithic uppers and to some extent on uppers that are machined with a matched handguard from an extrusion or billet stock. An ultimate upper Stealth 2.0 will be flat across the top for example. |

I was just curious if anyone else noticed since my sample size was small (2 rails compared against 3 uppers). |

From my QC guys -
‘We assembled a 13.2” LT220 to our upper and measured a difference of 0.004”, hand guard rail being lower. This is within spec. Same check on 11” with a difference of 0.003” Me - ‘Reassemble while shoving the slop towards the top.’ QC - ‘Did that and only out by 0.002” ETA - Not bad for a $10 an inch / penney per thousandth handguard. FWIW - an RCH = 0.003” . |

I like this
RCH = 0.003 another important question finally answered |

i measured mine and it was was spot on with the height of my upper receiver.

I just put a 10" LAT on a rifle. I forgot how tight the inside dimensions were. I didn't want to order a LPGB, so I shaved down an A2 FSB to fit. It took a ton of shaving and once it was set, the pins were too wide and they needed shaving, too.
The top rails of the HG and receiver appear to be very even. |

Bump for more pics. Close to trying a couple.
Been following G for a while, want to try something different. Any 10" on 11.5? |
|
Guess im just gonna have to get a some
2 LAT 10" and 2 SB triggers coming. Hopefully not too large of back order. Will report with thoughts when I get some use on them. |

I paint all of my guns with it. I love the stuff. ?? I use it mainly as an extra layer of protection and to get away from the monotony of black. You can see on the PSA logo on this one where I got it a little too heavy, but whatever. The stuff is really durable though. |

Man that looks really good. I want to Cerakote a receiver set and LAT rail and have been trying to decide if I will leave the handguard nut black, or hit it with the same color.

Yeah, I opted to leave it black to provide some contrast and to help keep the black on OD theme rolling front to back. I really like these rails. Mark - best rail on the market by far. I have tried just about all of them. Excellent machine work and attention to detail. Just received my second 9" LAT and again, it lines up absolutely perfectly with my Vltor MUR upper. Thank you for doing something right and selling it for a ridiculously low price.

All of my ARs have LT triggers (swapped from G) and one of the three 5.56 SBRs have an LT barrel. I intend to swap the other two over eventually but I’m buying reloading stuff and ammo right now. |

Mark, am I to assume that having this done dosen't effect the accuracy of the barrel? Considering having it done for the two UU kit builds I have planned.
