Couple of quick questions for Mark and the crew:
1) In the initial 224 Valkyrie videos/write ups with the SURG there seemed to be 2 versions of the handguard, one a keymod Stealth 2.0 and second with "GAP" panels and the mount for the burnshield. On the order page it seems to be the latter based on pics, but the youtube video attached of Mark assembling a SURG shows a Stealth 2.0 handguard. Which version is shipping? 2) If it is the handguard with the burnshield mount, are those GAP panels like those on the OBR/tOBR or are they a new Keymod GAP panel like your IG post suggested? 3) If black is chosen, is the SURG can and burnshield also black? 4) Will barrel cartridge eventually be available? Order 300 BO now, order a 224V barrel later when ammo is more available? 5) From your testing, can you make any qualitative comments about the the sound of the SURG in 556 vs 300 BO supersonic vs 224V? Or another way to ask the question, if you where to light one off in your house in the middle of night without EarPro, which one would you choose? |

There is a part of me that's curious to know how LT got around the same issues that Sig encountered with their muzzle brake. I'm guessing the brake is considerably less of a baffle stack when compared to Sig's design so the ATF gave the thumbs up...?

Ordered 224V in FDE to match the UU lower I already have. Also snagged a black lower just because.
I believe the Form 4 Trusts are tracking around 10 months... I’ll bet it drops to 6-8 months by March. I picked the 224 since I already have plenty chambered in 556/300blk. Edit: http://www.nfatracker.com/nfa-transfer-time-tracking/ |

I knew I could not stand not having an open Larue order.
In for a 300AAC and Lower in black. |

Can't select a diff caliber than 556
Or other than black Also, they show a pic with fde charger, Forward assist, and dust cover, but all ordered stated they will be black I guess like the UU |

Unfortunately, I’ll have to sit this one out; no NFA fun for CA.

I’m thinking this in 6.5 Grendel for deer hunting in Virginia since you have to have .23 diameter or larger bullet. Damn rotator cuff surgery has me changing all my calibers around, any recoil sucks now even after 3 years.

Sig wanted to sell their mpx guns as guns without the NFA part. Just over the counter. Sig just said buy the can (or shroud) later. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

if the tranquilo is 23 oz and 8” is the SUURG (can only) the same weight and length? just wondering some rough idea of what to expect in a few weeks
|
|
Am I reading it correctly that the SUURG can only works with LaRue SURG 2.0 Muzzle Brake or will it also work with the LaRue TranQuilo Brake?

Thank you. If the regular AR15 UU kits are $800 and this is $1600, fair to say most of that $800 difference is in the suppressor or is there something else I am missing? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

No, you just go to the lowers section, select the lower and then it will ask you for your order number.
|
|
|
The new SUURG can is 4.5" based on Mark's overall length description "The barrel length is 11.5" long on all calibers, the LaRue SURG brake is 'pin and welded' onto the barrel so it's fits the "over 16 inch" barrel regulation (keeping you from having to pay a Short Barrel Tax). "
This should cut the SUURG can to around 11.5oz since the Tranquilo is 8" at 23oz. |

.300 Blackout SURG and Lower ordered! Going to be a long wait! Anyone know if Larue actually got this contract? Has it been decided yet?
|
|
Larue website updated overnight. Now specifically says “LaRue SURG 2.0 M-LOK Handguard”. So must be Mlok under those GAP panels which answers one of my questions and if so, makes me very happy. Would love to a pic of the hand guard without the panels.
|
|
Is there any way we could get another SURG barrel cartridge? Let’s say a guy I know ordered a 6.5g but wouldn’t mind getting a spare barrel in 556 just in case

One of the things added to their wish list on the SURG re-solicitation was M-Lok, so it's M-Lok under the panels.
And yes, extra barrels will be available, and all 4 calibers use the same can. As for why 11.5" barrel length (?) ... the .mil decided through testing that 11.5" was optimum for their needs. ETA - Hey, how'd y'all like that SURG 1.0 video ? |
