As i stated many posts ago,i oiled the shit out of mine on advice from john and it blackened right up,i was not aware that oiling was the final finishing step in anodizing aluminum. This upper is a gift for my brother and his first larue,so i want it to be pretty and show why i talk mine up all the time.
So i guess if i tell him to oil it up every time he cleans it he will be good to go,I'm still surprised that the time is taken to oil the handguard and screw it to the receiver but not hose down the receiver with some jb80 like i did to match it up.
It appears to be a hell of a lot of gun for the money,i may just break down and order one for myself, that being said i would get another black kit as once oiled up it is not any noticeable difference in color.
. As a matter of fact i was talking it up and may have caused a couple guys at work to order one up this week.
In hindsight oil is the answer to avoid the different shades of black.so oil it up and get out and shoot
