Mark, thanks for the response. I'm using a Bushnell LRTS 4-18x. I have a Stealth 1.0 in 5.56 that is .5 MOA w/ Mk262 and had an OBR that was also .5 MOA with Fed GMM 175 gr, so you set the bar pretty high. . View Quote |

Just bought a Larue 6.5G barrel with GB and tube, BCG, tranquillo brake for $450.
Now I guess I'm finally going to sell the 6.8 setup I have and convert since 6.8 didn't take off. |

I've ran about 10 boxes of ELD through mine. I've been down in the .4" group range but sometimes I get almost puzzling performance like check my scope mount performance. Maybe there's some inconsistency in the ammo. Others have had accuracy issues with it too on other barrels. Try more of it and see if some is better that what you've seen. I may get to the range this week and I've got my SST's and Amax's to compare too now. View Quote |

Kind of puzzling guys having 6.5g eldm group issues. What about making hits on targets further out than 100y? Could it be a parallax issue? Sometimes turning down the magnification at 100y can yield different results for me. I'm just brainstorming. I'm sure most of y'all have tried this and are more accomplished shooters than I.

I'm having similar issues with mine. Just now working some brass for it. But is around 1.2-1.5 moa with eldm or sst. Normally shoots a triangle pattern. I've changed bolt carrier group and went to a jp silent capture but haven't been back out yet. Going to pull it apart if things don't improve.

The vast majority are shooting great. But ... everyone is not shooting the same lot of ammo, or at the same round count. But ... it's a fact we put the same ultra-precision effort into each and every barrel. YMMV ML |

Mine was about the same with the eldm. I have 400 rounds of the eldm, with two different lot numbers. Once my barreled fouled, and I switched lot numbers it's a tack driver. About .8 moa, with a larue lt104 and leupold 6-18 mark ar. I will shoot some sst this week and see how it does. I have around 250 through the tube and around 200 it settled down. View Quote |

I just looked at my book. 258 rounds total. I noted around 190 it tightened up and 215 it seemed to completely settle. I shoot 5 round groups usually with 5-8 seconds in between shots, and all rounds through this tube are factory Hornady black 123 eld match. I switched lot numbers right at 200 rounds, but didn't make a note on the exact number. And I don't clean the barrel unless it opens way up. Cleaning is over rated.

|
I think it's the lot number switch more than anything. I do the same with my other barrels, but like you said there are limited factory options for the 6.5g.

Just got back from the range. Put 60 rds of Hornady SST down range. 100 yards. Total of 100 rds through the barrel. I was a bit disappointed in the SST. Best 5 shot group was .82, then 1.18, 1.51, 1.57, and 1.65. (Not the shooting order.) 3x9 power scope is not the best but I was still hoping for better. New scope is in bound. I'll have to try some more eld-m. I tried some on initial function testing and wasn't impressed, though I wasn't accuracy testing.
Has anyone tried the Federal Gold Medal 130gr Berger? How about any of the factory loads from Precision Firearms? What is the FGMM in 6.5 Grendel? |

I still need a lower for my 6.5g.
See when Mark get out of the sky and back to the CNC machine to mill us some. |

Latest 120 Berger load for the LaRue 6.5 Grendel from McCourt Munitions is running 2525 fps, SD of 9 and from my rifle is running right at 0.8 MOA for average with many groups smaller.

Debating on a Prs gen 3 for Grendel. I like the light weight and ease of use over the large frame rifles I have. Would it be dumb to try out a prs? Or I could just do ctr with risr and keep it light. Anyone using a prs gen3 on the UU 6.5g?

Well might try some then. Just itching for that lower. Between the NFA pending and the ? Time for the lower driving me crazy.
Giving me time to figure out ammo and optics on the plus side. |

What are the ELD lot numbers that have or haven't shot well for those who have seen a difference? I will go check mine and post soon.

I loaded up my 5-25 S&B on the 6.5G and it was shooting .5 MOA by the 2nd box of ELD-Ms. Threw my 3x ACOG on it and shot an MOA 5 round group sighting it in, then moved to 250 and 500 on steel. I'll have to get a real scope to match with the 18" barrel on my tOBR. I picked up a 12.5" G barrel for the 10" UU and am almost done making a little hunting pistol out of it, just need to find a superlative clamp on and tailhook brace in stock.... no luck so far.

You guys have me nervous for when my rifle comes in. I have factory ammo and handloads ready to go. I primarily shoot bolt actions, so is there is a trick to shooting small groups with the gas gun?
