With the Q5 showing no bcg love I need to make a decision or put my two uppers away.they are complete except for the bcg's
So what bolt carrier group is good enough for a Larue build? I want either a hard chrome or nib group. What is everyone using? Thanks |
| .....I've run an Aim Surplus NiB BCG in my 20" Stealth with no complaints so went with another for the 18" in the 2.0.....Hope to get to the range tomorrow to try it out.... |

LaRue used to sell great milspec BCG and a handful of folks started giving him crap for not saying his source, which would have violated a non disclosure agreement. Everything at the time pointed toward FNH, agovernment contract TDP holder since the 90's, which meant that they couldn't openly sell their products to the civilian market due to licensing restrictions from Colt but could sell unbranded production to 3rd parties who would agree to not sell as a FN branded product made to the TDP.
With current production rifles now offered with coatings and LaRue markings, I suspect that he could offer the product again but I think the above mentioned incident resulted in Mark swearing to never make BCG available again because the hassle he was given by that small group. |

Thanks for pointing these out, looks to be exactly what I'm looking for a quality part at a decent price. Anyone had a bad experience with one of these? Thanks Pete |

Thanks Pete .....Glad to help....I can say that the one I've run in the 20" has been flawless for well over 1k rounds, cleans up easily, still shines up like a new penny and the finish (although does show wear spots as expected) hasn't worn through or flaked off, etc.......Oh, and that silver satin peeking out at the ejection port doesn't hurt my feels either..... .....And that same 20" is listed several times, different shooters, in the MOA Challenge thread.....My submission was .7516 MOA and won the GHTF shoot....and a new 18" PredatAR from Mark....so I guess it doesn't hurt accuracy either....

Ordered up 3 of the aim surplus bcgs last night,95.00 and free shipping along with being made in the USA seemed like too good of a deal to pass up,besides I really want to try out my new BuildAr uppers. I'll post some pics once I get the uppers done.
So now I'm almost certain mark will turn loose his bcg's next month. I know sure could use another lower....hint ....hint Thanks for the advice and great shooting draconus Pete |

If you guys are looking for Toolcraft Black Nitride BCGs, they're on sale right now at Monmouth Reloading. $80. I too had been hoping for a nice LaRue BCG as part of the BuildAR series. Thanks for the heads up. I've been wanting to try one out, I usually run BCM; but at half the price I just can't pass that up. |

Haha, I was just comparing there also. I'll probably drop the extra coin for the NI-BO from WC, plus they have some of the other small parts I need. |

Fair would probably be $250, but I don't think you'll find a seller at that price. Last one I saw on Gunbroker went for a little over $300. You're probably right. I think the only one I've seen offered was around $400. I contacted the guy but it was gone. I have an extra that I was saving for my RO setup but I'm on the fence, considering a different style LT build project. Hold the IMs, I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do. I've already got a list of folks willing to take it. |
