Recently ordered my first Larue.  PredatAR in an SPR configuration with 18" barrel in 5.56.  I have a US Optics SN-8 1-8X scope being built for it as well.  A number of P&R S&W revolvers and 1911 have gone to the auction block for this Larue.

I've gone the SPR route a couple times before and settled on bolt action rifles for my precision needs, but prefer the AR platform when speed and precision are required.

I have been on the edge of ordering a Larue on a couple of occasions in the past, but lacked the patience to wait.  In both cases I ended up with a Wilson Combat Recon Tactical in 5.56 and 308 Win.  Both are excellent rifles and more than capable of ringing steel at 400 and 800 respectively but they are set up as battle rifles and precision expectations are not high as I have for the Larue.

Fortunately the lead time is measured in weeks vs months and hope to take delivery sometime next month.  Order is in GTG status, so the waiting begins.  This will serve as a predator/varmint rig and perhaps earn some bragging rights at the range if I can do my part.

I can see a companion 7.62 PredatAR or preferably a 260 Rem version in the future.

Congratulations, you have made an excellent choice. Go ahead and start saving for the next one. These rifles like to have "family" around.
Some like big families, I hear.

Congrats on your P'tar purchase/order.  Let me say that if you are considering a 7.62 for your next rifle, let me say from having just got my 7.62 P'tar in on Friday that the LT big dog is the winner hands down. Congrats again and enjoy.

Thanks Gents.  I was afraid of that but one in 260 Rem really has my attention.

Once I get it in, I'll do a side by side with the WC ReconTactical and see how the two compare from an accuracy standpoint.  Picked up some 77gr FGMM ammo and have a SWFA SS 5-20X scope that will help counter old eyes.

While I'm waiting, I'm putting together an accessories buy for things like iron sights, optics, mounts, bipod.  Those are all pretty straightforward but anything peculiar to the PredatAR?

From the pictures, the handguard seems to be peculiar to the PredatAR but requires the use of the PredatOBR grip adapter panels.

Am I reading this right?

Your PredatAR will come with enough GAP's (Grip Adapter Panels) to cover the handguard and one (1) Rail Section.  No need to buy any extra GAP's - unless you want a color other than Black.  You will love your tAR - good luck!

Thanks.  That is good to know and saves having to buy them.

Any other upgrades I can expect to make?  I'll see how I like the Rat stock and not sure if the charging handle is just a regular milspec or one of their TacOps.  I prefer either the UBR or ACS, but I'll know more once I get behind it.

Tracking info received.  Day shy of five weeks from the time of order.  Very pleased.  US Optics SR-8S should be shipping shortly for the final piece

Is that a new change? I know the photos on the site have shown OD gaps, But I own/owned 2 Tars, an 18" 7.62 and a 16" 5.56 (Have the 7.62 still). Both had OD grip/stock but the gaps were black on both. I had to replace them with OD on my 5.56 and just left the 7.62 black.

My 5.56, 16" tAR came with OD green gaps recently....

Hmm, interesting. Mine was 07/2014. Maybe it was just the time period.

Actually, it was a bit odd.....I requested UDE furniture and everything was.....except the GAPs which were OD.......They included the UDE GAPs so I could change them out, so I'm happy.....I guess it would make sense to make up uppers and lowers separately rather than the whole thing at once, at least that was my take on it.....

I've got to tARs and neither came with OD gap covers

Of course that's been two poly sales ago

Mine came with OD Green grip adapters.

Test target was 0.45, so we'll see if I can outshoot the Larue shooter.

Impressed with the MBT. Geissele SSA-E has always been my standard and have a Wilson Combat TTU on my 308 AR, but that might be changing.

It could be that we're turning out the most accurate pencil barrels ever produced.

Have to agree.  I was going to do a shoot off between my new tAR and WC Recon tactical moving a March 3-24X scope between both, but can almost predict the outcome.  Best I've shot with the WC is .62, which is better than the test target that came with their rifle.

I've been shooting M16s from the A1 to the M4 for 25 years, along with some of the high end AR variants.  I am truly impressed with the the tAR.  This is no longer a Ford vs Chevy discussion.

My 5.56 tAR had a .26 test target so I will likely never outshoot the shootist. The new FDE 7.62 tAR has a .69 test target so I will give it a try this weekend.

Go ahead and give in to the MBT on the Wilson's. Both my 300BLK and 458SOCOM Wilson's are now running MBTs. I will not stop until all of my lowers have MBTs
