My TQ was released from NFA jail about a week ago, made its maiden voyage last weekend.  Observations as follows:

not as heavy as my other 308 can (YHM)

Locks onto the TQ adapter like a bank vault door closing.  SOLID.  Zero play.  Total confidence this sucker ain't moving.

Maybe not as quiet as some of my other cans, but has ZERO BACK PRESSURE.  To be totally fair, I shot it against other dedicated 223 cans, so apples to oranges.  Plan to run a straight up comparison next weekend.

More on the zero back pressure comment:  When I say ZERO, I mean it.  Ran two 30rd mags on my 14.5" 223 UU, no fumes.  Thirty seconds after that I ran about 10 rds thru a similarly equipped 14.5" 223 with a Griffin RECCE5, got gassed.

Good auditory tone on the can.  Maybe not at quiet as my others, but as some other people have noted the tone of a can is more important than the recorded Db readings.  Really pleasant on a 6.5C bolt gun.

Speaking of that:  tried to run it on some rifles equipped with gas mitigation devices (Noveske switch block, Bootleg adjustable gas carrier), no go.
has to be on a gun with standard gas system.  What this means to you:  no additional products to buy to utilize this product.  Also, nothing to remember between shooting supressed vs non supressed.  Put it on, shoot it.  Take it off, shoot it.  Same ammo, no muss, no fuss.  Win.

Ran it on my 22" 6.5 UU out to 200 yds (stopped there, running out of time)

Am I happy with my purchase?

HELL YEA!

Does LaRue need to make a dedicated .223 version?

HELL YEA!

4-19-20 edit:  tranquillo has now been used on the following:  14.5" UU .223, 16" UU ptar .308, 17" rem700 6.5CM, and 22" 6.5CM.  (would have put it on more, but i've got several other .30cal cans and they need homes too.  Would still like to see LaRue release a tranquillo flash hider, even a closed tine one with the end cap as a sacrificial baffle, and a .224dia  smaller and lighter version for the small frame guns.  Still super impressed with the zero back pressure feature and my shooting companions all rave at the tone.  I still stand by my earlier comments that its not the quietest can, but mounts rock solid, is accurate as hell, and the non back pressure thing is still freakin awesome!

Originally ordered 04/17/19 Finally received In early February  2019 at dealer and Check cashed a littler later around the 14th. Called today to NFA and its still PENDING. Officially now my longest wait time to get a Suppressor in hand. Though, unfortunately nit my longest wait time for a Larue being my OBR 12” at over 2 years plus NFA. Would have loved to have it for the hunting season. I hope to get it by Christmas though!!! Anwyas, good things to those who wait..

Again, at $399, the TranQuilo is great, and I'm pleased with it.

I had to respond to this about the mounts. I own a dozen or so cans. The only cans that I can use pretty much unfettered, sans thread pitch are direct thread cans. To say that you are stuck using a can due to its mount is a joke. Every manufacturer makes their own style of proprietary quick mount break ex. Surefire, AAC, Silencerco, YMH, Dead Air, Sandman, Thunderbeast, just to name a few.

All said it isnt difficult to use a quick mount on a myriad of same thread rifles using one muzzle mount. I did this for a long while with my AAC SDN6. I would had an extra 30 cal muzzle device and would leave it in the can and direct thread onto any of my same thread pitch bolt actions I wanted to us it on. Yes I had to zero much of the time. Yet wasnt a difficult process. I could quick release of I didnt want to use the can. The when I wanted to use a new rifle I would rinse and repeat. Even so many times in practice if I left the muzzle device snug on the suppressor and locked then the POI shift was negligible if any at all using the can  as direct thread. I am tired of this whole argument about muzzle devices on the tranquillo because of the proprietary mount. It is ridiculous and one that seems as if someone doesnt have much experience with other quick mount cans. There a a few exceptions if others making some adapters yes. Indeed the Tranquillo can be used on a variety of calibers too so it isnt like a myriad of cans need to be available anyways.

The only real argument one can make about the Tranquillo is the weight. Yet if anyone has any experience with Suppressors then they should also know that it is all about trade offs. Weight for durability, Ability to fire full auto, Sound Suppression, Tone, Materials used, Ability to take down can, Sound suppression, Ability to clean in an ultrasonic cleaner, ability to not have baffle strike mitigation, Ability to repair can without new tax stamp, and the list goes on.

In the end given the costs of the can purchased under a discount in a package along with what I feel is has excellent tone, Excellent durability, Good mounting system with solid lockup and repeatable poi shift which btw does have to do with accuracy, havent seen issues with carbon lockup on mounting system and locking system, good suppression and what to me is a winner especially in a gas gun - which btw is the bread and butter of Larue - is the little to zero back pressure. Which in my service when in USASOC I have had much experience with the negative short and long term effects of gas blow back. Every time I would have gladly given up a bit of one of the others for this feature!

I did go a bit in-depth here as I had read a few threads from so called internet experts about Larues Tranquillo and other suppressors who clearly have little to no real world experience with can, nor any operational experience with them. Besides going out an plinking at the rage or wha5they read on forums or see on youtube.. The whole proprietary mount debacle is laughable at best.

Pros:
Cost; Tone, Durability, Solid Mounting system and reliable POI repeatability, Zero to no back pressure, Materials
Cons: Weight, Wait to get to deal after purchase (approximately 10 months for me from purchase)

Any lefties use their TranQuilos a lot here?  If so, how is it?  My only experience shooting suppressed is 556 with a Surefire SOCOM, the gas to the eyes isn't terrible but I'm not sure how they compare to anything else either.

Never did update but I did finally get the tac stamp approved earlier this month at my dealer. I was able to use it on my m110 in 6.5 creedmore and was pleasantly  surprised.. I do hope to take it out when it warms up a bit and try on my Larues in 556, and 6.5 grendel as well as a few other hsts to see how to performs. Overall happy owner in the end. Yet the wait from buying until the dealer had it was almost as bad as my Larue OBR SBR 12.5”. That one was during the barrel change over and took right at two years to get to the dealer.

I've used Riflegear for my last 2 NFA stamps. One was a transfer from Larue, and one was for a can bought in store.  They are pretty reasonable.  They will do finger prints and take digital passport photo in house as well.  That way if you get another can down the road, they can use what's on file.

Just curious if all the LaRue TranQuilo cans get test fired. Mine just arrived at my dealer and it’s definitely been shot quite a bit. Threads were very crusty looking. I’m fully aware that it’s going to be shot a lot by me but curious if others have received a very dirty can. Thanks in advance!

Took about 13 months to physically be able to touch, I was surprised to see that it was shipped in a Larue Armageggon gear suppressor case which was a nice addition.

For those running a 14.5” 5.56 UU w/tranquilo, what factory loads are you having the best luck with?  So far it seems 77 grain NATO spec HPBT is the best I have tried.

My 6.5 creed UU with its tranquilo seems like 140 grain factory hornady match eldx was made for it with sub half inch moa and consistency to 1200 yards

Are the tolerances of the TranQuilo enough for .338Fed/8.6BLK?

I got a rough I.D. On the end cap of about .358”…

I didn’t measure, but assume the muzzle brake would need to be opened up a smidge.

Anyone remember ML mentioning having tested .338 on the TranQuilo?

Question. When you thread the TranQuilo on do you go all the way to where the little ratchet like teeth engage and it completely bottoms out, before you lock the collar? I was helping a buddy of mine and when I put my alignment rod on it, it’s dangerously off (not centered to bore). However, if I stop right when the teeth engage and THEN lock the collar, it’s dead center.

You have to thread it on all the way until it contacts the taper. It should stop firm.

The lock ring has to be all the way loose when you put it on, my only guess is that it's not?

What do you like about the TQ?  Honest question.  I have one and I hate everything about it (except it looks cool and would come in handy in bludgeoning someone).  From Day 1, I have wondered if they manufactured mine without the baffles - it's that ineffective at reducing sound.  Given the blowback, I'm sure that's not actually the case.

Help me see the positive in this can.  You must like something about it to keep buying them.

I don't have the blow back issues maybe because of the gas buster CH?

3 of them I got for the special price on UU kits.  Even on my 11.5" M16 I don't see much more noise than my Surefire cans.

Just to add another data point. We shot my Tranquilo side by side with my Socom SPS. Using a free db app on my phone we compared the two. The Tranquilo peaked 2db higher. Not a lot of difference and only $700 cheaper iirc.

I always wear hearing protection and have been shooting so long I really don't notice subtle differences in db.  Having said that, I would say that sound suppression on the Tranquilo is pretty close to my Sandman S (maybe a little more).  But that's from behind the rifle.

For the price ($400) Tranquilo is a good deal.  Plus I already had 2 uppers with Tanquilo muzzle brakes long before I bought the Tranquilo.  And since I shoot lefty, the lack of blowback is a big plus.  Attachment system not as nice as Dead Air Keymo, but has always worked ok for me.  And can seems relatively rugged.  Chief downside is that it is a very heavy can.

So, if you can get one for $400 and you already have a couple of uppers with muzzle brakes, probably worth it.    But if your budget is a little higher and you are starting from scratch I do think there are better options.  I'd take a hard look at various Dead Air offerings (which is what I'm familiar with).   Sandman S if you need a hard use can.  Nomad if you're not planning to do mag dumps on a 10.5" upper.  And Nomad TI is very tough to beat (both way lighter and sounds better) if you're willing to wait 5 minutes between mag dumps.  Plus you're not going to be looking at a 3-6 month wait.

I have 30+ Cans including (for .300 and up) a Dead Air Sandman S, Wolverine, three TBACs, Omega 300s and a Helios (inconel).  The TQ is a joke compared to them.  I will say blowback is less than most of the others, but my gosh the sound reduction (I always wear ear pro, too, even when shooting suppressed) is so, so poor.  The only can I have that I would compare it to is my OSS 5.56 K can, and that's a flow-through K can, not exactly designed for peak sound reduction .  Maybe my TQ actually is defective.

I too would wonder if something is wrong with your can. I only have 9 cans, but I would not say the TQ is drastically worse than others nor have others with cans commented they noticed anything about it. I will say it is a bit heavier than many of my other cans, but I did not buy the TQ thinking it would replace cans from TBAC or others.

when i compare my Tranquillo's, to other cans the only disadvantage seems to be weight, i certainly don't consider it any louder than the others. and blowback is non existent

Why is TRUTH so elusive??

John 8:44 When [SATAN] speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
