I have a 16" PredatOBR on order (since June). Originally with the idea it would take a while I thought I just save up some money along the way. With the news that rifles are getting shipped sooner I thought maybe I should switch to a PredatAR since it's cheaper. I would have to cancel my original order and then create a new one, but with the news that orders wait time will be less I would still get it earlier than expected.

Here's my dilemma, I can swing the money either way, that's not the real issue, but I don't know if I ever plan on running a suppressor, so is there justification for me to pay more for the tOBR, or should I switch to a PredatAR and just spend the difference on other equipment? I know there are some barrel differences and the PST gas block, but unless there are some other differences (either available now or in the future), I'm thinking I might switch.

Any input?

You should really purchase your gear, guns, toys with an idea of what you will be doing with them and an understanding of their intended purpose.  I am not trying to lecture, but if you could give us an idea of what you will be doing and expecting from your rifle, we could probably point you in a better direction.

The purchase of a tOBR over a tAR should have nothing to do with if you are going to run it suppressed or not.  If you are needing / wanting a really lightweight option in your AR, go with the tAR.  The tOBR has a heavier profile barrel and in the future will likely have the option of changing out barrels to different lengths and even calibers if that is something you might be interested in.

For me, unless you were absolutely needing the savings in a little bit of weight, I would get the tOBR.  More options later on down the road, even if you don't suppress.

I vote stay with your tobr. I am trying to decide the same thing only in a 7.62. 14.5 vs 16.  I got my 16"  5.56 tobr already.  Gotta start somewhere. And a tobr is a perfect starting point.

Stay with the tOBR. Get the tAR later. Both can be suppressed.

I bought both a PredatAR and an OBR when they first came out.  While I love them both, my PredatAR is my go to gun.  I really like the weight and over all feel of it.   I run  them both suppressed without any issues.

Oh, and I'm with Harley, buy them both...
