So OBR and tOBR arrived within a few days of eachother end of Feb-ish

Credit card payed off no problem had the money set aside from when I was deployed and for the remainder of what I've got on order.

Today wife calls me at work as I'm crusing the LT forum, as usual, and she asks why we have a credit card bill over...a lot of numbers. Apparently she was wrapping up March finance stuff.

Mark, any chance I can talk you into taking monthly payments from now on I'd be very happy to pay in advance incrementally instead of go through what I just went through, again

Credit card in your name, with statements sent to your office or delivered via your email.   Keeps you below the radar.

Just sayin'.

Every time I mention buying a new gun my wife tares the house apart under the assumption I already bought and I'm waiting for her Okey Dokey to buy it before I haul it out.

I just show my wife the gun broker ads for the Larue rifles and how many thousands more they are listed for so that she understands that I am making "investments" and not just buying guns. What she doesn't need to know is that those rifles on gun broker rarely sell for that amount...

Yeah that would work but only until she sees the credit card bill the glass...should have prepped the objective better I guess.

"this old thing?  I've had it for years, stuffed in the back of the safe...you just never saw it before, or forgot I had it..."  FTW

Meh.  I just buy her a new gun, or more often, a Coach purse.

Luckily mine was already paid for before I got married...... Final installment came after the wedding, but she knew about it and I showed her the money I had put away in the gun safe to pay for it.... Buying a second one? Not unless I hit the lottery.... And we don't buy tickets......

As long as the mortgage and bills get paid, wife don't care.

The late Mrs Capi was an Accountant by trade & she did our books.......

Didn't care if I had the cash saved up or if it was in the budget......

Just got ticked off if I busted the budget......

Then we both worked & everything went in a common pot......

Never bring your wife around cheap guns.  Then she thanks me for being patient and getting a good deal.

I tell her about every 4th one I buy - luckily all of "those black rifles" look the same to her. The last time she looked in the safe it was half full... if she looks in there now I may have some explaining to do...

I've bought 4 guns since that time, (Glock 19, XD9, Marlin 336, 870 riot gun) just not any 3.5k guns... Almost forgot the two 1.5k scopes.....

My wife is actually really supportive, after sandyhook I told her it might be now or never and she pretty much wrote me a blank check.  I think it's just the shock of two of those bad boys showing up at once.  Must admit I had to take a deep breath too.

My buddies wife still thinks guns cost like $400. Sometimes when he gets a new one, he just tells her it's mine. Benefit of me storing my safe in his heated and a/c shop.

I liked the option of being able to pay with a cashiers check. I could stash away the money, get a check from the bank and purchase without anything showing up on the credit card.

Unfortunately the last time I tried to do this I was told they they no longer accept cashier checks.

Pretty much this.  Although for $$, I've tried to keep the really expensive stuff down.  My 18" OBR heavy and incoming 14.5" tOBR light are definitely the spendy ones.  Also picked up a nice Sig, FN, and an OD Green KSG for shits.   Gonna stop now before the welcome wears out.

I get a healthy bonus at work and we as a family are completely debt free (Thanks Dave Ramsey).

Now I can buy rifle and a diamond for her and we are both happy.
