Anyone know if the LT OBR Sling Adapter is intended to work with a tOBR? I just received one and went to mount it on my 14.5" 7.62 tOBR. First, it does not fit in the first side position on the handguard without interfering with the hand guard lock so I tried it on the bottom. It fits but not with the normal LT fit and finish. It is flush with the adjacent hand guard panel but stands off from the hand guard by 1/8". It worries me because it only makes contact with the screwhole riser portion of the hand guard and since it does not really "slot" onto the entire groove in the adapter, I worry that the torque caused by the sling might eventually cause it to work loose. Anyone have advice on what works for their tOBR?
Thanks in advance... |

Order #7443X 12/1/12 16.1" 7.62 TOBR arrived today. This rifle is a work of art! Sorry for the not so clear pics. http://i1328.photobucket.com/albums/w534/Helicoptertech/image_zpsa3a3b423.jpg http://i1328.photobucket.com/albums/w534/Helicoptertech/image_zps55280c2f.jpg The LaRue family! http://i1328.photobucket.com/albums/w534/Helicoptertech/image_zpsb9a3ea40.jpg Hope to get some range time next weekend! I don't understand how you got the OBR sling mount to fit there, mine won't fit, the thing that locks the lever in place hits it Helicoptertech's is a 16" tOBR…yours is a 14.5", which has a little shorter hand guard (6 grip panels vs 7). Here is a picture of a little modification I performed a while back, worked out great. I simply used a bench grinder to remove a small about of the grip panel. Hope this helps... http://i1136.photobucket.com/albums/n499/jraymond614/20131203_220402_LLS_zpsaa7915aa.jpg http://i1136.photobucket.com/albums/n499/jraymond614/20131203_220453_LLS_zps33ede56c.jpg |

Thanks for all the valuable info. I will give it a try on the bottom of the hand guard and report back on how it works. I may explore milling the end off so it can work on the side but I need to see if it looks like that will compromise the structure. If it were me, and it's not, I would definitely be more tempted to grind down the less expensive Grip Adapter Panel, and go with the 2nd position on the hand guard, as shown above, rather than messing with the integrity of the sling adapter |

Anyone have advice on what works for their tOBR? Thanks in advance... I called LT with the question about the stand off and was told "Yes" for compatibility... Explained that that fit is 'as expected' with the scalloping on the tOBR handguard. If it somehow damages the threaded insert on the handguard due to torque, I have no doubt it would be handled appropriately by LT. |
