Since many of us are now hitting the two year mark on our orders for 5.56 tOBRs, and many over a year on their ~$1,300 lowers, I figured I would ask some questions and see if you would be able to shed some light on the situation for us.
Previous threads had indicated that the field grade barrels were finished and you had reached the point where you were consistently making match grade barrels. If this is the case, what order will you be producing these barrels in and do you have any estimate on the date ranges for those calibers/rifle types/barrel lengths? If the reason for the delay in shipments is that the barrels are not yet up to your match grade standard, why did you stop shipping with the field grade barrels as an option? At what time will those who chose to accept the field grade option be allowed to redeem the certificate for a match grade barrel? I know I’ve seen many of these questions asked before, but I had to ask them myself as I am trying to talk myself out of sending my lower back for a refund now that I’ve hit the 2 year mark. I’ve spent the last 2 years telling myself it would only be another month or two, it won’t be over a year, it will surely ship in 2013, it won’t go over two years. Now I am asking, how much longer will it really be? I respect the level of quality that you hold your products to, and there is no doubt in my mind it will be a great rifle, I’ve seen them and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better AR. It would go a long way in easing some concerns for your very loyal customers, who have waited very long and through many changes, if you would take a couple minutes to answer these questions. Thank you. |

Finance issues maybe? A product liability claim? Who knows, but I am starting to worry about my $1600 that is on the table. The wait sucks , but I can deal with that. No information makes me question if the company even cares about the customer anymore or has bigger issues pending. Monthly updates would shut most of us up. Hell, maybe they want us to cancel...
As an ex banker/commercial lender, their actions would definitely send up a red flag. For the first time in two years I am seriously considering cancelling. |

Eventually they'll get to the 18" barrels and all of this will seem like a distant bad dream, once you're fingering your new rifle.
While not 2 years, I waited 14 months for my newly acquired 16" OBR -- and it was worth the wait, although it would have been equally great if I hadn't had to wait at all. Yes, answers to each of your questions or regular updates would be nice, but would you rather have them working on rifles, or answering emails? Are you really going to give up after waiting this long? You'll always be glad you waited if you do, and you'll always wish you had waited if you don't. M2C, YMMV ETA: Soon to be 15 months wait on my tAR 16"...

And I'm not canceling, just probably gonna end up getting my money back for the rest of the wait. |

Honestly, the worst part of the wait is the 1st month, and the last month (once they email you that it's ready-to-build, and then ships, and then the 10-day Kali waiting period)
The 1st month you just know it's going to be forever... And the last month it just FEELS like forever... Quoted:

also - it helps if you distract yourself while you're waiting by buying yourself a really nice pistol. I did. It works, if you work it! ETA: Sig Sauer p226 X-Five Competition SAO Oooo! The X-Five is a work of art. Like a Porshe 911 Turbo. Drool. Here's the X-Five in action from another thread: X-Five Action Pistol |
