I went out, did the ordinary shooting. I was using Federal gold match today and right before I packed up, I had a couple guys try out my rifle. First guy I just had him use my ammo and the next guy was also shooting an ar 10, so I had him use his. He brought over his own pmag and mag tech ammo and on the last shot, it went click. After assessing my rifle, I noticed a small gap between the bolt and chamber, and I was thinking that if my rifle had a forward assist, just bump it and would be good to go. Obviously it doesn't have one, so I went to pull the charging handle and no bueno. It did not want to come back. It took quite some man power to get the round out. I inspected the round and looked fine. I then tried one of my rounds to see if it was his ammo and did the same thing about another time or two. After that, it came out fine. Any ideas on what the problem could be?
I was also using PMAGS. |

I just thought it was weird that it did the same with my federals. Could it have been the mag? Sir, how many rounds have you fired through it and how well (almost dripping) was it lubricated? Both of these factors play into loading issues, especially generous lubrication. |

brando850, you have not even begun to break that girl in. Lube bolt and carrier generously, keep a rag around if for wiping up the mess. Once you have 500-600rds out, she should eat whatever you feed her.
These machines will always run better with oil...no different than your combustion engine. FWIW, I like the Slip 2000, but there are a lot of good gun lubes out there. Rem oil, and anything watery like it, is not one of them. Good luck. |

The problem is not lubrication. If you read the OP you will see two things. One is the gun failed to go into battery (i.e small gap between bolt and chamber), and afterwards it did not extract (did not want to come back). The problem here is the round was not properly sized for your chamber i.e. it was too big. A properly sized case and loaded round should drop into your chamber without any effort and should drop out if you tilt your barrel up in the vertical position. Now OP you said you were running FPGMM and they "did the same thing about another time or two”, that is odd. Can you confirm because that suggest that your chamber is undersized or the other possibility is it is VERY dirty. BTW, lube is only for the bolt, never lube your rounds. I figured people already know this but… |
| I will verify that the FGMM did do it once. After the hiccups, it was like it never happened. That being said, because it did happen with nice ammo, I figured it might have been lack of lube. I will post a pic of my bolt later when I get home to take the picture. |

It wobbled into the chamber, but I'm assuming it did that because the round wasn't exactly straight going in. |

The question is did it go all the way it (with press check on the back of the round), and slide out without a problem? |
