Are any C.E. owners experiencing Cerakote or Paint chip on their rifle? Especially underneath the charging handle? or anywhere else?

Under the charging handle and some on the brass deflector I do have some wear, but I think that is normal.

I dont have a CE rifle, but i do have other rifles.

Wear happens, is just how anything is that has moving parts and is use.

Yes, there is no coating including normal anodizing that will not wear in those areas.

If you use an AR enough, certain areas will be worn down to bare metal.  Goes for any AR, LaRue or not.

Wear makes it more awesome IMHO.

Wear marks add character. Like the lines on my face and the grey in my hair.

Yep, you should see Costa's Rifle.  He uses and abuses it - the way it should be!!

Yes, it happens when you "shoot" the rifle. It's an unfortunate side effect of "shooting".

Seriously? It's not a coin collection, dude.

All of these rifles sound faulty. Send them to me for proper disposal

WTF? Seriously?

They are rifles, not Faberge eggs.

Coming up next:

"Has anyone noticed black, sooty deposits on the bolt and in the upper receiver?"

Damn Straight, if I'm lucky enough to get one, it's going to be used not put on display in a glass case.

Dang, you mean I am not supposed to shoot all that ammo I just bought for it...oh well...To the Safe!!!

are these cerakoted?  Thought it was a different coating.  I know costa's rifle is actually cerakote and thought the costa editions were gunkote.

is there a difference in the way the coatings hold up?

It's normal and makes the stick look even more bad ass, if that's even possible

I too have found that when I shoot my rifles and pistols that the exterior finish "wears" off. Is this normal when two pieces of metal contact each other repeatedly under use?  I thought weapons were primarily to look cool, show off to my buddies, take face book pics with, and make YouTube videos pretending to know what I'm talking about. WTF!? Help me please

Actually the two rifles we provided Chris were both KG coated, exactly like what we are providing customers.

I don't think Costa is worried about a little wear on the finish, here he's trying to burn the finish off his light. I love posting this picture.

thanks for the clarification.  Is there a difference between the two coatings or are they both ceramic-based?  Joint force enterprises shows costa's predatobr as having cerakote on their FB and website so not sure what this all means.

I believe that JFE did the first prototype for Chris (we sent it to him in the black). The latest two were KG.

I simply asked the question because I wanted to know how durable the Cerakote technology is. I am aware of how physics works and that wear and tear would come over a period of time but this is a specific question about Cerekote.  Thank you for all the inputs especially the informative and useful ones. For those who were upset with the question, there's no reason to be rude and sarcastic about it.

First time in the LaRue section of the forum?

Wear from regular use is one thing ...
Chipping is another.

"Gun Kote, applied properly will not chip, crack or peel.  Going back through the preparation process will usually find the issue that caused the problem." - KGCoatings

I'd be interested to see a picture of the area you're talking about.
Curious to see if it's chipping or just normal wear.
I would assume it's normal wear and not actual chipping of the KG finish.

Where did I say I wouldn't post in this part of the forum?
I said I would no longer post in that specific thread, as it was derailed beyond redemption (as you're trying to do once more) thanks to you and other fanboys that have nothing to contribute but insults.
Literacy is key.

How could I resist coming in here?
After reading a few posts from fanboys and LaRue I instantly feel like a "rocket appliancist"
