I am considering canceling my order for a PredatAR and buying a Stealth upper and a Larue lower instead. Any idea what the wait time is on an 18" stealth upper these days? Also, does anyone know if they will sell a complete Larue lower?
Thanks Nate |

Back when I ordered my upper, the time I was quoted was something like 2-4 weeks from the date of order. IIRC, it actually arrived within 2-3 weeks. YMMV.
As to LT selling a complete lower, I believe the answer is currently "NO". HOWEVER, COMMA... The Stealth upper and LT lower will be a chunk of change less, and probably get to you a bit faster than waiting for a complete rifle. Not to say I wouldn't order a complete rifle from LT, but I don't have all the cash right now (or when it ships, when your CC is charged), and I'm an impatient bastage... I will say that I felt an immense satisfaction with myself after ordering the LPK and trigger separately, and then getting it all assembled and working, without shelling out more $$$ for the gunsmith at my preferred gun shop to do the work... All that said, I could not be happier with the way my 16" Stealth and stripped lower came together. I still have to tap the upper into the lower with a mallet after cleaning, and there is absolutely NO PLAY, NO WIGGLE, NO NOTHING once it's assembled. |

The turnaround on my 20" Stealth was 1 day. Ordered 4/3, Shipped 4/4, recieved 4/5.
As far as the lower goes, I'm sure it's a fine lower, but quality stripped lowers can be had for around $100 all day long, so I would want to know what the price premium gets me. Sure, I like the LT name and their symbol (God Bless Texas!), but that's quite a step up in price for me to advertise for them. It's one thing when they give me a free hat, and I wear it all day. It's another thing for me to pay an additional $150 for something that I'm not sure what the advantages are. Plus, the last I heard, they didn't even make their own lowers. That might have changed, and I'd be much more comfortable paying more for something that LT actually made as opposed to simply putting their name on. |

Fit and Finish... Fit, if you have been around here long, you know how tight the upper and lower fit together... There is no Wobble, no gap... Once together, they almost look like one piece... The last few times I've taken the upper of the lower to do some test fitting on something else or deep cleaning, I had to use a rubber mallet to give'em a few wacks to separate... Worse or better depending on how you look at it to put them back together....OCD, Nothing technically wrong with it, but for myself, I don't like having non-matching uppers and lowers on most of my stuff... Drove me nuts when I had my Nice Stealth Upper on a Noveske Lower.. Unless its just an all out frankenrifle, which I have built, I prefer the match... Like I said, OCD... Finish, I've not seen a LT lower and upper that did not look like they came from the same batch as far as color and anodizing... I'm sure someone will be along to refute it and said, I got one that has a slight blim right here where you can't see it.... And further guaranteed customer service... |

Also, does anyone know if they will sell a complete Larue lower? Thanks Nate Talked to JP yesterday and he told me realistically that a Stealth Upper will take 4 weeks to build. Didn't matter on the configuration (IE - Barrel Length, Rail Length, etc...) - said they were all build to order and all parts are in stock! That's not that bad considering the backlog of Civi Orders and the Contract Orders and such. I wouldn't cancel the PredatAR though. It'll cost you more to build a Stealth with LaRue Lower than a complete PredatAR. That said, I'm building a Stealth and keeping my PredatAR on order too. Got my lower in less than a week, and the LaRue Receiver Extension (Buffer Tube) less than 36 hours to my Door after Order placed! Now I just need to decide on the Stealth Upper and place the Order - I'm debating between the Stealth Upper or the DMR Upper right now ... I'd say it'll be completed before I get my PredatAR. Thinking this will keep me busy until my PredatAR arrives. |
depending on how you look at it to put them back together....
