I am on week 4 of my 16 week wait for the PredatAR .62 and in my mental exercise to kill time, was wondering what kind of scope would best work with the rifle. I would like to keep it at approx 2000. Any suggestions are welcome. I am new to the world of guns in general so pls excuse my ignorance.
Thanks in advance

You might need to clarify a couple things...

Did you mean PredatAR 7.62?  I'm going to guess you were excited and just forgot to include the 7.  Perfectly understandable.  Treat daily with excessive doses of Dillo Dust on just about anything you eat, and it'll become less inflamed...

As to the 2000, did you mean RANGE (2000 meters) or PRICE ($2000 or less)? I'm going to guess you meant the pricetag...

Lastly...  Ignorance is being aware that you don't know something, but not caring to rectify the situation.  Wisdom is knowing that you don't know it all, and not being afraid to continue to learn.

Link to reviews of high end tactical scopes
link
The correct scope depends on how the rifle will be used. There is a lot to be said about a nice ACOG  small compact great illumnination they make a 3.5x with green horseshoe over dot in a .308 reticle   Stock # - TA11H308G   if you go ACOG be sure you get one with both fiber optic and tritium as opposed to the TAO1b that has only tritium. Nightforce scopes are also well thought of but I prefer a U.S. Optics particularly the 3.2-17x44 EREK 1/10 mil with Tpal  but thats about $2700 Their  1.8 -10x44 EREK with 1/10 mil is about $2275. and would be a really good fit for that rifle.

one to one .... but then people put less than $100 scopes on $800  plus rifles (hard to get under $800 for a good one) .... and cheap rings .... and wonder WHY!  Meet FuBar, Mayhem & Murrphy

The childish excitement never goes away I still get it every time I buy a firearm.

Depends completely on what you plan to use the rifle for as to what optic would suit your needs best.

If I were outfitting a 7.62 PredatAR I would want a NF 2.5-10x32 or a USO 1.8-10.

Thank you very much for the link. Does anyone know if buying scopes in the US is more expensive than say in Europe ? I have a trip planned and with the US:Euro rates, I was curious to know if it makes it worth it. I know the taxes are higher but I know in France (where we may go) you can get most of the VAT refunded. Any thoughts ?

Check and see what the import duty tax will be. I have not been overseas for thirty four years.

The childish excitement never goes away I still get it every time I buy a firearm or anything from LaRue.

FIFY...

The excitement of seeing that Brown truck pull up with some LaRue-taped boxes pull up is like having Christmas early...

Night Force 2.5-10x32 mm
ta11 with 308 bdc

There are a lot of stuff that will work, but these two come to mind when you have a light weight rifle

that still has great accuracy potential. Both are under 2g's so you can feed that bad boy some match ammo with

the left over cash.

I have a NightForce 5.5-22x50 that I used on my OBR 7.62. It is a great scope. I have a PredatAR 5.56, and I use an Aimpoint Comp ML3 and a Trijicon ACOG 3x30 TA33G-H on it. They have LaRue QD mounts.

Now, I have a PredatAR 7.62 on order. I will use the NightForce for long distance shooting. But, I want a light, quick optic for spot and stalk hunts as a guide gun. I am looking at an ACOG TA11J-308G: 3.5x35. The US Optics / SN-4 1.5-6x DFP looks like it will fit the bill as well.

IOR Valdada has some nice offerings. I just moved a 4-14x50 that lived on my Stealth 20" to my Barrett 99, and it works great in both applications. The Leupold Mk4 3.5-10 LRT M3 that is on the Stealth now is pretty nice, and better on that firearm for my purposes, but I think the IOR Schott glass is a hair better. Just my 2 cents
