Well I have a 16"13.2" Stealth, the only thing I'd change would be add a SF 'K' brake. They look so sexy setup that way. You mean THIS ONE? |
Quoted: No this one. http://www.laruetactical.com/surefire-muzzle-break-adapter-556mm-223-fa556k-suppressor The 'K' Brake. Looks even better on the end of the older silver barreled Stealths like mine. I just like that look. Quoted: Well I have a 16"13.2" Stealth, the only thing I'd change would be add a SF 'K' brake. Ah, yes, thanks gents!
Right away, though, I'm thinking of swapping the A2 on the Stealth for the BattleComp1.5 I have on my piston upper. Perhaps later on when I convince her of the need for more accuratizations, the K Brake will find its way into the shopping cart... |

Quoted: Well with a 16"/13.2" you don't have much barrel to grab without pulling the rail and you don't want to screw up the finish. YMMV But if LT installs it when they build it, it's easier all around.Ah, yes, thanks gents! Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: U had to get permission from your wife to spend money?? ![]() In a manner of speaking, yes. See, she's handled the bill paying ever since my first deployment, and if it ain't broke... It ain't been broke for going on 17 years now... If you say so ... Hey Harley, all our money went in a common pot and my lovely lady (the accountant) payed the bills from it. Neither of us made a big purchase without involving the other. Now the money I made from working Gun Shows for a FFL friend was mine to spend, as was her 'birthday' money and any bonuses. She spent half of one Christmas bonus on a Ted Brown custom LRB M14 for me. Different strokes for different folks. If 2 people are going to make it in the long run, you have to find what works for you. Sarge, as my wife did what yours does and now shes now gone to heaven, sit down with her 3-4 times a year and you take care of the 'books'. It will help if something bad happens to her. |
Harley, I truly married my best friend. His name is Bob...
No, wait, it’s Fred... Hold on a sec... (Honey, what was your name again!?) She held down the fort like a champ while I went traipsing around the world on two year-long tours to Korea, just South of the "Z"... Year and a half for the OIF "Surge" Six months before evac injury from Balad ...and everywhere in between... Best personal accountant I ever met, hasn't cheated me out of a dime that I've ever made, or told me "NO" to a purchase. "Wait", yes... Flat out "No", never. |
Quoted: The pictures of your wife aren't loading. Well her picture today, would be a small rectangular golden colored Urn, do you really want me to post the picture? I'm sorry that question isn't fair and I'm being a smart-ass right now. |

So I'm a bit bummed that Mr. LaRue didn't pick my number for the February UHFO giveaway... But I can't stay bummed for too long... Household Six, AKA The Head Sammich Maker, AKA My Prettier Half greenlighted the Stealth upper I've been lusting after ever since I found the LT website. I told her to wait until after the UHFO was over. If I didn't win the giveaway, then we'd buy the Stealth. If I did win, then she'd put the cost of the Stealth into assorted other LT gear (like maybe a lower and LPK, UDE kit, etc)... I had my fingers and toes, eyes, ears, and nose crossed for that scenario... I guess I will be counting the days now... Until the Stealth arrives, as well as until she greenlights the LT lower and assorted other "accuratizations" it will require.
I can't wait to see that status change from "Pending" to "Shipped"... http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/4859/ltstealthorder.jpg Congrats on the new build! Post some pics when you get it all put together! |

Well, lemme see here... Got my Android phone... Her Android phone... My home laptop... My home desktop... Her home laptop... Two Kindles... Three work computers... That's a LOT of F5 keys... I hear the gun room is where they keep the LaRue gun elf's and Unicorns that fart pixie dust! At least, thats what I heard! |

Quoted: I understand guys. I apologize if you were just teasing but... If you don't run big purchases ($1000+) past your wife at all before buying them and she doesn't with you, you either better be millionaires or just not give a crap about money. My opinion, your mileage may vary, etc. but I refuse to have any kind of debt except a mortgage and that gets paid off as fast as possible also and I cannot drop $1000 on whatever easily. |
I took it as good-natured teasing, it's all good. I agree with you about keeping debts as low as possible, or getting them gone as quickly as possible. Aside from our bills and mortgage, retirement investments, etc. we also have budgeted for a "911" fund, the Wee One's college fund, and the "Fun Stuff" fund... |
You know that's wrong. Ain't an NCO around that doesn't need his coffee. A friend on mine from my time in hated coffee and made CSM, how'd that happen, doesn't seem right. Quoted: HOLY CRAP!!! Status changed from "PENDING" TO "GUN ROOM"! ![]() I don't think I'm going to be needing my usual pot of coffee to keep me going through the morning to lunchtime!!! ![]() |

Placeholder for a pic of my usual coffee cup during the work week... AAAAAARGH! It came out of the Gun Room, but the CC company wasn't expecting the amount, so they put a hold on it until HH6 calls and tells them it's ok. Then she needs to call Amy and let her know, so it can get shipped out today (and hopefully in my grubby paws come Friday)... Hope we beat the UPS driver... The tension is so thick you can cut it with a warm spoon...
The CC situation is straight now... Just waiting to hear that it made it onto the truck today...
I hate it when you're on vacation and use a CC a few places and they put a hold on it because you're out of your normal AO. Then they leave a message on your home phone, but you're not there. You find out when you try to use it next. Makes it look like you're some deadbeat. |
Had something like that happen when I came home from the Surge... Big name box store, picked out a new TV, and the debit card was declined, even though it was only about a 20-minute drive down the road from "home." Called the bank, told them what was up, and swiped the card again. JACKPOT!
So the CC is all straight now, order "Completed", and tracking number issued. Now to wait for the driver to pick it up and figure out when it should be in hand... FRIDAY!!! WOOHOO!!! I must say, I admire the patience and resolve of those who ordered full rifles. I'm freaking out about a day or two, you guys are sucking it up for a month or more at a time...
If this thing blows my mind like I expect it will, I might have to pick up a second or third job to save up for my hybrid... |
Quoted: UPS is funny that way. From LT, it'll go to their branch, then the local big hub, then to your local big hub, then to your branch. It all depends on how much is going the same way, on how many times it gets loaded/unloaded/loaded again.I wish... OK is weird sometimes it goes up past me to OKC, other times it comes to Lawton, right outside of Post, but always a two-day wait time... |
Now that I have a day and some change to wait...
I've already told my supervisor that I'm outta there as soon as the Brown man shows up. Sign for that beautifully crafted box with Dillo tape, tear it open like a kid at Christmas, and head out to the range to get de-stressed. I think 20x 30-rounders might not be enough? Thus, tomorrow will be an unofficial "Bring Your Firearms to Work Friday"... (Bringing the camera as well...)
Aside from the obvious (sky opens up, sun shines down, choirs of angels, and much rejoicing), is there anything I should expect when it arrives, ie: a breaking-in period or procedure for the barrel that I will need to follow? A quick wipe-down of all the parts before I start putting rounds through it? I can't see 10 rounds of QC test-fire leaving much that would need to be cleaned off, but... [shrug] A certain "je ne sais quoi" attitude that I might develop and have to keep in check?
Anything I missed? |
Quoted: Shhhhhhh, I'm driving up to OKC to pick it up from the UPS hub up there... No, not really, have to be up at oh-very-dark-thirty for a road march (EIB prep). It does feel like Christmas Eve, with me playing NORAD tracking Santa... Back in my day, during peace time, the NCO's with their CIBs said that was easy you just had to be there at the right time. Then they all said a EIB was hard work and anyone with a EIB earned it. |
