After watching another vid and seeing how someone else that knows more than I had their Hand Stops placed, I gotta wonder;

Am I the only one that uses them like this?

Not talking about postion as in top or bottom, forward or back, but in the way the the stop itself faces...

In the pic and the way I have them, the contoured part faces your hand/finger.  I've seen alot of folks with them turned around...

I have them on three different rifles and I love them.. I replaced my AFGv1 with the quickness after I tried the Hand Stops...

Anyway, it looks like I run them backwards compared to most...

Curious what you all would say.

I have mine pushed out a little bit more, but that is how I use them.

I use one on the bottom of two rifles.

I saw them setup a few different ways at the Range Day.  Some uppers had them turned around to where the back side of your hand went up against the non-textured side of the hand stop.  Worked very well.  I need to get me some...

I run them the intended way. I've switched over completely to handstops.

i run em the way the picture shows.  the other way just doesn't feel comfortable.  whatever feels best is whats correct per the individual.

I run my dissy build as pictured. Never cared for the afg or running a stubby vfg. Works great for me

Since I only have roomn for one Handstop (7" drop-in rail), I have it on the bottom,at the very back, and turned like the picture, to pull the rifle into my shoulder.

If I had the room along the side, I would probably turn the left Handstop to where my left thumb would fit into the groove, parallel to the bore, and use that as a point of reference instead of a pulling surface.

Guess I need to start saving milk money up to buy a Stealth upper with a longer rail system, huh?

Since I hate threadjacking, I will not do it here...  I would appreciate any advice on finding the balance between barrel / handguard lengths (started a HELP thread), though...

Bought a UDE set for the 556 OBR I have on order....if I like them as much as I like my IWC handstops on my super short uppers, I'll be ordering another set for my LWRC upper.

Good to see a nice semi-transparent picture of how some run them. I will be hooking mine up like that and have saved the pic for a reference.

That is how I have mine setup. I run the stop between my index and middle fingers. Enables me to get my thumb on top of the rail and use my index/pointer finger as a natural aiming aid.

Yep, I run mine the same way.

I've read where they are installed, by just putting a Larue index clip on either side of them.  Does that make them stout or secure enough?  Just asking, before I buy some.  Thanks, 9080

That is correct - clip/handstop/clip, done, and YES, they aren't going to move for anything short of you prying them off with a 'dillo (or whatever you happen to have handy at the time).

if you are getting handstops for a pred or obr rail, get the ones with the inserts inside em.

25MM, and Xenny, thanks for the advice.  They are in fact going on a non Larue rail.  Thanks, I will be trying some out.  9080
