My OBR Heavy could use something to tame the recoil and muzzle jump, but I don't have any experience with any of the popular brakes out there.  For these purposes, let's assume that a suppressor is not in my future so I don't care about the added feature of a brake that doubles as an attachment base.  SJC Titan and Surefire seem to be two of the more popular models, but I also see the Battlecomp mentioned a lot.

Opinions from those who use one on a .308?  I don't care so much about noise as I do controlling recoil.

I love the Surefire myself. Its loud as hell but does a very good job at controlling muzzles jump!

The JP Cooley comp also works conders. I think that and the rolling thunder are supposed to be two of the best. The Battlecomp was supposed to be a compromise between comp characteristics and not being as obnoxious as full comps. It's about 60% of what a comp will actually do.

I had heard the Battlecomps weren't as loud and it made me wonder of they weren't a compromise.

I have an OBR that now sports a SJC Titan brake. It really settled this rifle down and doesn't jump much more than a .223.

Did you install that Titan yourself?  Was it a pretty straight-forward job?

Yes it was easy. I did it in about 10 minutes.

I really like the surefire k brake on my OBR heavy.  I installed it myself with little effort, although homemade wooden vise blocks are handy.  However, I really disliked the same brake on my obr lite it seemed loud and kicked up dust when working near the ground, YMMV.  I could solve the problem with matching surefire can, maybe someday.
