What is the general opinion of the Factory Mag vs Magpul for the OBR 7.62?
Since you have to pay for two Factory Mags with the OBR (no credit) how do they perform? $79 a Factory Mag vs $19.95 for a Magpul is a pretty steep jump and knowing LaRue and Magpul quality for 5.56, I wondered if there was a justification for one over the other in 7.62. I guess I am just to jaded with past experience with metal mags and wonder what these factory mags offer. |

I personally own both mags. Really love my Larue mags over the 7.62 pmag. Just an all around better built mag. I was very lucky to receive mine with my OBR and have been very impressed with them! I know they are expensive but I do feel they are very worth it..
Below is a good read on the mags by Mfingar.. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=2&f=219&t=195373&light= |

The LaRue OBR magazines are cheaper than the HS Precision mag. for my Rem 700 scout rifle (only 10 rounds at just under $100). I said that when the were available for sale I would by two. I got them for my 308 I assembled from a stripped lower 2 1/2 years ago, before the pre-orders notice was posted.
They are the like all the products in quality and workmanship that LaRue makes in house. You have to decide if the coin is worth it to you. They are available in a two pack deal. The pmags get the most use. The LT's have a tad bit more room for a longer overall cartridge length. Remember that the .308 Pmag and LT mag. were not available 2 1/2 or 3 years ago. |
| Part of the reason is because LT had to put in all the machining to make them in house, including the polymer follower. I have three of them, and they are the slickest, best-made metal magazines I own. I'm sure if they were a bigger seller they could adjust the price down some but they are probably a smaller volume item. I got my extra one for fifty dollars, but I ordered it as soon as they announced them since I already had the OBR pre-ordered. I just received it about six weeks ago and got billed for it at the earlier quoted price even though they were putting them on the site at $79. Just another example of LT's awesome customer service, "Even though these are higher priced than we anticipated, we will honor our estimated price that you pre-ordered". Plus it was like an early Christmas present when the shipping notice came out of the blue and I hadn't ordered anything (that I remembered anyway). |
