Went ahead and pulled the trigger on an OBR and have a quick question. Will the Lula M1/M14 loader work with the LaRue and Magpul magazines?
Yeah, yeah man up and load them by hand, I get it. Bad hands here, would still like to be able to shoot after the mags are loaded.
Can't wait for the OBR to get here, have a Trijicon AccuPoint 5x20 with it's name on it. Pics and range report will follow it's arrival. ETA, if not the Lula, is there another loader that will work? |

Glad you ordered the LaRue rifle, I'm sure you will be happy with it. In answer to your question, no the M1/M14 Lula will not fit the AR type magazines. You will need the M16/AR15 Lula. I have used one for a couple of years and they are well worht the money. Yeah, I can load a magazine by hand, but when it comes to unloading a magazine (without sending rounds down range) you can't beat a MagLula. Aroud our part of the country they retail for around $35.00, you can probaly find one on Amazon.com for less. Good luck and I will be watching for your range report.
Ok, I might have misunderstood your question. I made an assumption that you ordered the OBR 556. If that is correct then what I told you is correct. IF you ordered the OBR 7.62 then I really can't answer your question. I do know the other AR style 7.62 rifles use different manufacturer magazines. I hope someone that knows for sure will chime in. |

The question was for the OBR heavy. I have the LULA for the Stealth, and it's the second greatest thing since sliced bread. Thanks for the response, though! |

In the beginning I felt kinda like a big ol' sissy using the Lula loaders. But when I'm at a Magpul Dynamics class it sure as hell gives me a lot more time for hydration, snack, rest and chat time with instructors! ETA: Almost forgot to warn the OP about the OBR heavy. You run the chance of making others feel ignored because you will be spending all your time fondling, outfitting and shooting your new "baby". Ignore the whiners and enjoy!! And ENJOY you will.
Of course showing up with 30-40 pre-loaded magazines doesn't hurt either... |

With a lula, I can load 6 magazines (not stripper clips) during the song Ventura Highway (I like to listen to America when I reload). First .308 other than a savage 11. Looking forward to it. I don't think I can do anymore to the OBR. Getting it with a PRS, a surefire brake, Larue/Harris Bipod, and an ergo grip. But buying decent ammo for it is a bit shocking. Have 2000 rounds, could have bought 5000 5.56 for the cost. |

How many inch barrel OBR did you go with if you dont mind me asking? I just got an 18" and have an Accupoint 5-20x 50 on mine and really like it. |

Got the 5x20 accupoint on my stealth, can't beat it. It's an 18 incher, and I am very happy with the barrel length. That's why I ordered the OBR with the same barrel. Kind of a big brother for it. I have the green mil-dot with it and I am very happy. The accupoint for the OBR is waiting patiently for it to get here. Bet you are happy with yours. |

Have 2000 rounds, could have bought 5000 5.56 for the cost. Now I KNOW you will love it!! That's the exact config I have. In fact - as legend would have it - mine is the first 18" released to the wild!! I agree about the ammo cost. I simply cannot afford to shoot the OBR as much as I want with FGMM. I have collected a selection of lower grade fodder I will be running through it this weekend in hopes of finding some I can use to get more trigger time on the OBR. We'll see... |

Actually FiftyCalAl turned me on to the Hirtenberger a few weeks ago but I haven't had time to order it up yet. ETA: I just remembered this thread started out as a Lula post! I'm such a friggin' tool sometimes. Sorry for the highjack!!! |
