Alright guys,

What length barrel should one choose????

I want a 16 I think, but would a 18 or 20 service the 7.62 round better?

Thanks!!!

oh and make it quick.....I need to decide before the nights over and price goes up!

(cut and paste of answer to the same question a few hours ago)

16" easier to carry around, lighter, a few early adopters have chosen it because Larue isnt currently shipping anything but 16" currently

20" maximum velocity out of rounds shot, which is better for long range with some rounds(168gr Sierra Match Kings for example are known to become unstable and lose some accuracy during the "transonic" phase well before they go subsonic (oddly they are perfectly stable subsonic as I recall)

18" compromise between the two I guess

nothing wrong with any of them and really if you are rarely if ever going to shoot over say 600y the 16" is all you need (though as this thread shows, the bullet isnt going to fall out of the air at 601)

I started a thread on this awhile back (which has some of the "yes but" valid discussion on the subject).

I actually read that, but did not know if that was a realistic thought to base a 2500 dollar gun on.
with that said I own a 10.5 SBR and a 16 ar15......I like the idea of being compact, but want to get the best bang for the buck!

Thats really all there is to it, how easy it is to move and how fast the bullet is coming out of it.
