Just wondering if the Vortex is ok to use with the OBR without affecting accuracy?  Will it be available as an option?

tested any with the Vortex yet Mark?  I usually run those on all my 5.56.  If I don't get an (adapter) FH that will accomodate your new suppressor, Vortex may be going on instead of birdcage.

Apparently, they have at least mounted one up to an OBR. I bet they have tested it out as well.

I'm willing to bet they tried this out too:

I'll be trying mine out with a Gemtech Vortex bi-lock.  I doubt it will degrade the accuracy.

Does the Vortex allow quick release/hookup with Gemtech suppressors?  any other brands?

Gemtech made a Vortex suppressor for 9mm. As far as I have seen, their 7.62 suppressor uses a lug type mount, which differs from the Vortex. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Now...an LT can might mount right up with the Vortex

i'll be absolutelly strapped after paying for the OBR itself. my hours got cut by close to half this past year and i ended up bringing home just over $12K...

with the $2500ish i'll be in for the OBR, another $250 for the OBR mount(man i wish they came standard with the rifle, i know already getting a great rifle for the initial price), $1000ish for for glass(looking into a US Optics ST-10 i think, time will tell), back up irons(may go mbus though), tango down battle grip, a bunch of magpul m110 mags, etc. i may just have to call it a day and go with a cheaper option as far as suppresors...

i'm thinking maybe a YHM phantom .30cal QD FH, and accompanying .30cal QD suppressor...

wow you must not have many other expenses in your life if you can drop that kind of change on a rifle while only bringing in 12K.  I pay more than that a year in rent.

actully my hours were cut in march lastyear, since then i've been bringing home approx $800-900 a month and i pay $500 a month in rent before utilities...

but i paid cash for my $2500 '85 toyota 4x4 pickup, and $400 for my 96 dodge neon daily driver, i have utilities(water, trash, electric, natural gas that like rent i split 50/50 with my GF), and my $50 or so a month cell bill, i live less than 3 inutes from where i work so i don't spend much on gas, but i do smoke about a carton of generic cigarettes a week so that say $35 aweek) yep, things are pretty tight at the end of the month...

the GF and i eat out maybe once a week, and i don't waste cash on going to the movies or that sort of thing, i work at a bar so i have no want to go out to bars... i just do not spend a lot on frivilous stuff and do not spend beyond my means. i have a $1000 limit on my CC and pay it off monthly... hang out over in the survival forum or listen to www.thesurvivalpodcast.com and you'll get a lot of good info on finances and "learn to life a better life, if times get tough or even if they don't"

i figure i'll have close to $5k in the OBR by the time i have it all set up the way i want, and it will be the most expensive thing i've ever owned. i guess it's just a desire for quality. i do with out a lot of "the little things" so i can purchase something really nice for myself... ofcourse out of fairness i told the GF if i dropped that kinda money on this rifle, i'd finally pull the cash out of my savings account and get her that engagement ring...

ML and the OBR are pretty much responsible for my finally getting hitched(that and my GFs' health insurance coverage, least that's what i always tell her)...

got confirmation and my order number today, the misfits used to sing a song called "we are 138", i'll be humming i am 14290 unitl she gets here...

Sounds to me like you got it figured out brother! You should be proud of yourself for being able to deal with a cut like that, and move on!

Enjoy the OBR!

thanks for the replies and the interest in my little tale guys!

OP, sorry for crapping up your thread...

i'm in the central shennandoah valley area, harrisonburg to be exact.

i think i'm actully going to have to wait to sell my BAR-10 as i want to transfer the ace skeleton stock that i'm actully pretty partial too over tfrom it to the OBR and put the a2 OBR stock on the BAR-10 before i sell it... the FAL is just a century sporter L1A1 but at least it has the more desirable imbel reciever with the propper "gull wing" feed ranps though. i'm probably going to unload a chinese sks, an early 181 series mini-14 with bayo lug, maybe an AK or two, etc... i've been wanting to thin out the heard a little bit anyway and standardise some. as far as rifles go i think i'll be down to the OBR, my recce build, and an SBR i'm working on getting around to building, i may add another AR or two eventully(2 is 1 and all that tinfoil SF stuff) but i think this will be a great battery for me for now. less is more and all that, less guns more quality...

i actully have the money in savings to buy it outright and i probably will but thanks for the words of incouragement guys. it's just gonna be tough for me to justify putting out that much money at once and waiting for the others to slowly sell to replace the funds... and buy the GF the engagament ring she's setting beside me right now(sssshhhhhhh!) we're watchign "after armageddon" on histroy channel right now and she has no idea i'm writing about the ring or the OBR...

OOHHHHH she just stated sanding the calluses on her feet with a "ped egg"(it's like a tiny rasp or cheese shredder used to cut off dead and dried skin from the bottom of your feet) AHHHH and she just made me look at the aftermath, the dead skin inside looked like saw dust and wood shavings... and i'm gonna marry this chick?

but i digress... yep ring for her, and OBR for me!

Think I'm gonna go with the Vortex when I get the call. I just wish they had been tested on the OBR first!!!
