What are people thinking as a setup for their OSR?  I'm kinda torn between CQB and SASS but will probably go with the long range setup since I have a Stealth Upper/Billet lower on order also.

I'm thinking Magpul PRS and MIAD, Troy/LT BUIS, and SureFire brake.  Other things like trigger and such are being taken care of as part of the stock config.  Optics will be a Mark4 8.5-25.  Harris bipod.  At some point in the future I would like to add the SureFire suppressor but the paper work seems a little daunting.

Barrel length is undecided.  My only real issue is velocity.  I have no worries about accuracy in relation to length, the 16.1 should be as, if not more, accurate as the 18 and 20.  I am simply worried about bullet destabilization before 800-1000 yards.

I'm interested in hearing others ideas and plans.

16" barrel, Surefire brake, Harris BMR-S, Leupold Mk4 LRT 4.5-14x50mm with M1 turrets.  I can't remember what stock I have selected but I think I may have gone with a Magpul UBR.

UBR, Surefire Break, MIAD Grip, 18inch

16"
No brake (I have a QD can coming)
Troy BUIS
A2/A3 stock
Optic will be a Nightforce 3.5-15x50 in an LT mount with an Aimpoint micro or Jpoint.

I might go with a different stock, I haven't made up my mind yet.

I've got a Remington for the longer stuff, so I'm planning on a 16 inch barrel (the can adds nearly 9 inches), UBR, MIAD, Leupy 1.5x5, and lots of LR20s!!

Here's a similar thread that I started awhile back with more build specs by others, just for reference.

I know this is off topic, but I've got an OSR ordered too and am undecided on the configuration as well, and am looking to start buying some ammo.  Will the OSR be able to shoot .308 as well as 7.62x51?  I've read about the differences between the 2 cartridges and am still unsure.

Just to bump this one up
18" barrel
Surefire brake
Troy BUIS  (included)
Magpul ACS STOCK
HARRIS BIPOD
12-LR20'S

I couldn't decide so ordered a 2nd one.  It will take a while to finish the 2nd one w/ optics and accessories, but at least it will be in hand.

I think I'm going with:

20" barrel (want it for the LONG range stuff)
MIAD grip
PRS stock
Bipod
Surefire brake
I think (at least the flyer showed) it comes with the BUIS as standard?

That is what I read also. It does not come with the BUIS, but the rail is recessed for it.

I have seen it, on two different occasions (both the flyer and online) state that the BUIS is included.

Maybe MLR can give us the definite answer on this.

IIRC, he already has stated the rail is inlet for BUIS, which are not included in the standard package.

I asked the guys at LaRue the same question and I was told the OSR will handle both, 7.62 and .308....if someone knows differently...please reply.

Thanks,

Does anyone know the length of the barrel in the OSR flyer?  It looks like an 18".....I believe this was asked in another posting, but I cannot find it....

Thanks,

7.62 and .308 are dimensionally identical, the main difference is the pressures to which commercial and military rounds are loaded.  I have access to arsenal loads that I will be using primarily.  Federal GMM 168 loads will also find their way down the barrel.

On my flyer, it states the the barrel is 18"

Opp's I should read closer.....yes it says 18", shown with optional Surefire....

Thanks and sorry

Wasn't there an OSR page on laruetactical.com? I've searched on it and can't find it now.

16"
ACOG TA31H
Magpul UBR
A2 birdcage
6/2/2009 5:01:13 AM EDT

Magpul UBR   (have PRS for 308 that could be swapped out)
Troy BUIS set
rest is not decided

And page TWO is MINE
