Historically the levers for the LT optic mounts have typically been on the left side, but I notice that on the newer product offerings such as mounts for the M4, T-1, and RCO they are on the right side.

What factors have influenced this apparent change in philosophy?

Bolt catch positioning?

For a right handed shooter, levers on the left size tend to catch on clothing, slings, LBE, and interfere with hand clearance to the charging handle (even moreso on a SCAR than an AR/M4/M16) and bolt release. Levers on the right sometimes catch on vegetation or other things in the environment, but on balance IMO levers on the right size are a welcome improvement in human engineering.

+1

Will LT be moving to a R-side default and/or is there some kind of list now as to which mounts have R-side levers?

I suspect that if their outfit is every able to actually keep up with demand, there will be an L and an R designation on any of their mounts that aren't inherently reversible (e.g. Bipod Mount).  It may add $20 to the less produced version, but I don't see why it wouldn't be possible.

This is the reason I'm assuming there's only one Docter/FastFire attachment - it can be installed backwards.

I was sort of hoping for some feedback from the manufacturer, hence posting in their industry forum.

So were we, hence why we keep posting in it and bumping it.....

TehLlama and Gamma762 did a good job of answering this.

Keeping the left side "cleaner" is a good thing.

I can appreciate the advantages of the right side levers for all of the reasons mentioned above.

I guess that my original question should have been, are y'all considering swapping the sides for the likes of the LT-100, 101, 104, 105, 110, 123, 129, 139, 150?
