First, let me say thank  you to LaRue Tactical for this wonderful contest.  I don't know if I can express just how grateful I am to you folks.

I've installed my upper onto an Anvil Arms lower receiver.  Jon does extremely fine work.  I purchased an Aimpoint M2 and LT mount for now, as I'm planning on buying a 35x 30mm Leupold target for the SPR mount in the future.  Can't afford it right away, so for now it's wearing the 10x Super Sniper I had on a .308 bolt gun.

First, a dinner pic

That's a Wisconsin summer meal.  Grilled brats, lots of kraut, spicy brown mustard, LaRue goodness, Ryan Plan B, Sam Adams Light and a stapler so I don't get yelled at for some reason.

Someone is hungry

So out to the pasture to get some shooting in.  First gratuitous glamor shots:

Here's a long view of my little home range:

I loaded up 100 SS109s with 23.5 grains of Varget.  I will be spending more time in the near future working up a different load.  I've had really good luck with Varget at 23+/- grains in my bolt .223 and figured it would be a good starting point.

10 shots

I removed the scope and replaced it then shot this 10 shot string.  I believe you can attribute that flyer low right to myself.

Then a 10 shot string of Ultramax 52 grain hollow points, a prairie dog favorite.

And a 10 shot string of Wolf 62 grain HP's

Removed the scope, replaced with the Aimpoint and fired this off, SS109's again

Then I spent the rest of my range time alternating between scope and Aimpoint and thwacking the hell out of this

You can see 1/4" A36 is no match for SS109's, although the 3/4" plates have no trouble soaking them up.

I've never owned a LaRue mount before these two.  I can't really explain how amazed I am at how infinitesimal the point of impact is when swapping optics.  I've never really believed it was possible to have repeatable zero to this degree.

I'll be spending more time in the coming week or two working up some more loads.  I'd like to get my hands on some of that Wolf 75 grain, and some Black Hills MBTHP's.  I'd also like to try some Hornady 68 grain MBTHP's.  I don't think these groups are indicative of what this rifle can do.  In fact, I'm quite impressed with how well it did with the most basic plinking ammo I happened to have on hand.

Thumbs up LaRue, you folks do good work.  Thank you.  Customer for life.

Wouldn't go quite that far.

But ketchup is necessary on Brats and Hot Dogs.

Very nice.  Did you custom cut the foam in the case yourself or did LaRue do that for you?
