On this Thanksgivukkah eve, I wanted to take a few minutes out of my evening to announce my upcoming departure from AIM.
Beginning 2 years ago, I began taking classes so I could attempt to get into the Respiratory Care department at a local community college (to eventually become a Respiratory Therapist). While I enjoyed being at AIM, I recognized that it would be hard to make a lifelong career out of it, plus I'm an ex EMT-B and my parents are healthcare workers, so healthcare is in my blood. Admission to the program is based on GPA and letter grades in the individual prerequisites, and when grades came out in June (when I took my last prereq), I knew I would get in. Sure enough, a couple weeks later I received my acceptance letter. In August, the semester began. It's been a crazy 3 months. Because of my class schedule, I've only been able to work about 25 hours/week. Because I was in the office less, I was moved to a more auxiliary role. As time went on, my role in the sales office gradually diminished until about 2 weeks ago when, in preparation for my last few weeks, I got moved to the warehouse. I thought that move was fitting, considering when I was first hired on in August 2008, it was for a warehouse/shipper job. So if you've noticed I'm not on Arf during the day, I'm no longer answering Sales emails, and I'm slow to respond to PMs, that's why--I'm not in the office and nowhere near a computer during the day. Currently, my last day is scheduled for 3 January. I had an interview this morning (Bryan, et al, knew about it) that seems promising and, if I get hired, I may be out before then, which is why I'm writing this now. It was funny, one of the interview questions was "describe a time where you had to deal with an angry/irate individual and how you dealt with the situation". There have been so many over the past 5 years that it was almost hard to pick just ONE to talk about!
So first off, I give thanks to AIM's owner and Bryan (they are not one and the same). They certainly did not have to keep me around while the semester was going on; honestly I don't know how many businesses would have. Not only that, but they've treated me (and everyone) incredibly well during my time there; I remember when the 2008 craze had died down, AIM treated the company to a Cincinnati Reds game as a "thanks for working your tails off the last 8 months" evening (great seats, too!). There are dozens more examples of their generosity. It's not everyday you find an employer that really gives a damn for his or her employees, and it's going to be one of the things I miss. I of course also want to give thanks to you all, the customers/fanbase. Most of you are crazy sons of bitches, which is why you're the perfect AIM customer Seriously, I can't imagine many other businesses getting the support that AIM gets. When someone starts a topic blasting us, 20+ of you pour in to defend us. We've had customers give us beer, coffee/donuts, a bottle of wine, and a long-time customer of mine from WI annually sends us really good cheddar and usually some venison summer sausage. Oh, and one of you shipped me some National Geographic DVD of animal mating habits...Getting an email with the words "tittie sprinkles" from a certain Arfcommer makes up for the some of the times during the week that I was cussed out or yelled at by a customer (cause, after all, it's my fault he didn't know he had to send in an ID).
I'm sure to be around after I quit, so it's not like I'm gonna disappear, I just wanted to take a minute to attention whore a little bit and say thanks. Vive le gay monkey porn, Tuna |

You all crack me up...thanks everyone for the kind words, I mean that.
cjwwd2: I have a feeling GMP will haunt me for a long time. As long as there are GMP uppers out there...sadly, I don't think GMP-themed scrubs will go over well whenever I land a hospital job. Oh, and you all are obsessed with discounts. I've seen our purchase orders, we really don't make that much on a lot of our stuff! GunsNJax: I wonder how long it would take Bryan to notice a Tuna-related promo code... Dragynn: I'm still gonna be around Arf, so we'll talk veggies for sure. As for fixing your orders, they already trained my replacement in August when my hours initially got rolled back. Bryan may be willing to fix things via IM, but really man with your calm demeanor, just about anyone at AIM should be able to fix an order. Of course, if you place it right the first time around... .
five821: There are no words... |
Best of luck on your new path Tuna!
Make sure to grab a few of these bad boys before you leave.... VICTORY |

Glad I could make your day, and that that is one of your memorable moments. Titty Sprinkles!!!
glhfddiaf Your now infamous career in the GMP bidness has apparently blossomed into a booming career and you're masking it under the healthcare umbrella, eh? I see what you're doing... Happy Thanksgiving! |

Let me tell ya...one of the most surprising things that ever happened during my time at AIM came about a month ago when Bryan pulled me into his office. He said "buddy, I'm really surprised. Ever since we started scaling your role back and redistributing your duties, less work has gotten done than when you were doing it. I hate to admit it, but you did more work than I thought you did." What a boss
