I got the rifle today, but am having a problem with it. I chambered a round to fire the rifle but noticed that the bolt didn't go all the way into battery. Then when I tried to recharge and expel the round that I thought was stuck, try as  Imight I could not pull the charging handle, it was stuck.

I removed the magazine and pulled as hard as I could and eventually got the round out. It looked normal so I reinserted the magazine and again charged the rifle. It went into battery just fine, but when i went to recharge the rifle again, the bolt did not reciprocate. Again it was stuck. I pulled as hard as I could and got the cartridge out, and again the shell looked normal. Just slight scratches I assume are from the stripping off the magazine. At that point I got that feeling something was wrong. I am afraid to fire the rifle now for fear that I may bulge the barrel.

I would like to ship this rifle back, if that's possible. I'll pay for shipping If it's one of those "As Is" deals, I'll just swallow it as a loss and order one of the new ones on your site. Considering your excellent customer service I'm hoping that I can just send it back for an exchange or credit against another purchase.

Thanks in advance.

This may seem like a dumb question... but were you using the correct ammo?

what ammo was it?   did you take a look at the chamber to make sure there isn't a piece of cleaning patch in it?

Bryan dont know if its a coincidence but just got done with an ak74 build, it had never been fired, the reason i knew this was, the chamber still had burrs in it, and the round was not seating, Having to get a finishing reamer to correct it,

but i too am suspicious of his ammo

LOL I'm not fully retarded.I ordered the ammunition and rifle at the same time, and know very well the difference between 7.62x39, 5.56x45 and 5.45x39.  I used not only the 60 grain 5.45x39 Silver Bear offering, but also used some of the Russian surplus 53 grain corrosive stuff. (I did not fire the rifle with either fearing an out of battery explosion.)

I've been looking at the cartridges and there are wear marks just forward of the case rim, almost as if the chamber when being chrome lined, left a little too much just inside the chamber. I did not want to start cutting and reaming on chrome lining if I am not happy with the rifle. There are other issues with the rifle, such as: The return spring does not clear the screw that holds the stock on because the stock was installed incorrectly. It's canted up leaving a gap between the receiver and stock that you can easily cut yourself on. The coverplate is extremely difficult to remove and install because of that incorrectly installed stock too. There is a two millimeter gap between the trunnion and the coverplate when the coverplate is installed all the way and the return spring guide botton is in the correct place. The only way to get the button in the right place is to install the coverplate and charge the rifle a couple times.

Is there something wrong with both Silver Bear's 5.45 *AND* the Russian stuff at the same time?

Hehe, yes I did and also put a scribe in there to feel the rim I talked about earlier in the rear of the chamber.
