Hello,
I have a question regarding Ops Core helmet sizing. I seem to fall right on the line between M/L and L/XL as my dome measures exactly 23 1/4... A while back I had the opportunity to try on both sizes of the ballistic line and didn't seem to notice much difference other than the L/XL seemed to feel wider. The M/L fix snugly, mostly in the fore/aft area, needing only a couple clicks worth of tightening. When I tried on the L/XL it felt nearly identical as far as fit fore/aft but as previously mentioned a bit wider side to side, which I don't think I need. Thoughts on which size to get? I'm interested in the bump or possibly the carbon helmet - is the sizing similar or are they different between the lines? Appreciate the help! |

Head shape is a factor as well, but I also fall right on the cusp of M/L (now L) and L/XL (now XL) in Ops-Core sizes.
I also wear a 7 1/4 or 7 5/8 hat, and a size L Crye Airframe. I wear an M ACH, but wish I had a bigger size, but usually wear other helmets now anyways, so don't worry much about it. Ultimately, I found that while I could wear an M/L Ops-Core, I was pretty much at the extreme end of the adjustment range, and I had nowhere to go besides just fitting. Depending on hair length, whether you might want to try to wear something underneath in cold weather, comms headsets, etc., I found that L/XL was a much better size for me, as the helmet can be tightened down to fit me, no problems, plus, I can adjust it out if needed. Given that I wear a S/M in just about everything else (body armor, uniforms and clothing, etc.) it's a little absurd with a big 'ol dome, but as usual, my recommendation is, if you're on the edge, go bigger. ~Augee Quoted:

I tell people to measure their head size while wearing anything they plan to wear under the helmet. If you think you're going to wear a headset, put it on and measure your head with it. I'd also say that if you're right in the middle of sizes, I'd go with the larger. You can always add pads and cinch down straps. |
