I made this thread in the NV forum.  Could you guys answer this question for me?

I'm curious what the capabilities/benefits are of the VIP beacon Government model over the NSW model.  Why does the Navy only want 2 LED's designated for IR and 3 for visible Green, as opposed to the Government model's 3 LED's for IR and 2 for visible Green?

Given that the main purpose of the VIP is for use with NV, one would think it would be optimal for 3 LED's for the IR so it's brighter in that mode as opposed to the visible Green.

That's just my inexperienced thought process.  What am I missing?  If I were to buy one right now, I would buy the Government model.  I'm just curious what the benefits are of one model over the other.
