I've read most of the literature on your website, but I'm still confused.
I have an EOTech 552 mounted on a flat top upper (AR-15). I do not have a railed forearm. With regard to Item # ITTE-NEPVS14-17: 1) Using the monocular mounted on the headset that comes with the ITTE-NEPVS14-17 kit, would I be able to site through the 552? 2) Does the ITTE-NEPVS14-17 kit come with the harware needed to mount the monocular on the rifle behind the 552? (I'm pretty sure I'd have to buy a railed forearm and move the 552 forward, but it isn't clear to me if there's an accessory with the kit that would let me mount the monocular on the rifle in a way that facilitates the use of the 552.) Thanks in advance for answering these dumb questions. |

Thanks in advance for answering these dumb questions. First off, NO questions are dumb ones so all good here and thank you for asking. The NEPVS-14 kit does not come with any sort of weapon mount. With the head mount system it does come with is mainly for head mounting. With that said it is possible to mount the PVS-14 over your non shooting eye and look through the EO with your other unaided eye. We teach this position but it can be very awkward and difficult at times to get into a good check weld. The rifle is usually positioned in a more center line position in order to use your NOD to see into the EO. The other issue is (based on how eye dominant you eyes are from one another), you can have POA/POI issues at extended ranges. We find 25-50 yards most can get good hits, some cannot. This technique takes a lot of practice. A very easy and very accurate way is to use our TM-14 mount with the PVS-14 seen here. http://tnvc.com/items/weapon_moounts_rings/tnvc_tm14.html. There is also a review of this mount on our Industry page HERE. With this set up you can transition VERY quickly from head to weapon and weapon to head. The final and most useful way to fire with a head mounted NVD, is the use of a IR or Vis laser mounted on your weapon. This technique is VERY effective as all one has to do is shoot with your head up from the high-ready position. Unfortunately, IR lasers are restricted for sale to the commercial market so getting one legally may prove to be difficult. Using a Vis laser does work but you may have some donut bloom with close in targets depending on what vis laser you use. Hope this helps. Vic |

Thanks, that does help.
To expose the full extent of my ignorance: I'm right handed and sight with my right eye. Why not look through the 552 with the monocular on my right eye? Would I have to buy a railed forearm and move the 552 forward to be able to mount the monocular behind it? |
