Hello.  I have a piston kit for .750 diameter that I bought a few years ago.  I had it on a 5.45 ar15 that I thought I had cleaned enough before going to afghanistan last year.  When I came back I was excited to get back on the rifle but realized too late that taking down the bolt wasn't enough.  I should have done more for the piston.  It is completely seized up.  I have tried krill oil on it and putting it through my ultra sonic cleaner but I can't get it to move an inch.

I would really like to get this piston up and running again because I did like the benefits of the piston.  Do you have any suggestions or past experience with what I can do for it?  Does CMMG sell the piston alone without additional hand guards and bolt carrier?

Either way I liked the product before it stopped working and thanks for supporting ar15.com

This is a new one on me. We had a Faucet Screw that was totally rusted and would have broken if we'd
tried to take it out. My wife fought with it for about a week, soaking it with WD-40 and it just unscrewed
like it had never been rusted in place. I was amazed, didn't have any thought that WD was that good.

As far as buying individual parts of the piston system, all you can do is call and ask someone. The
operator/ receptionist may know who to talk with.

Hello Nick, got yourself into a bind with carbon? You may like to give this a try:

I use it on AR Bolts and Bolt Carriers with good success, however, you may have welded that piston
in place.

After soaking the unit for at least 24 hours I'd dry the exterior, drain off any excess
chemical, and apply a propane torch to the gas block, heating it evenly, then try
to tap it out. The heat from a propane torch - not MAP gas - is less than the gas
jet that drives the piston. Just don't go all ape shit on it, easy heat and easy taps only.
You may have to repeat the chemical thing several times.

No guarantees man, but it's worth a try. Good luck.

Thanks ted.  I actually contacted CMMG about this yesterday and they were fast and helpful.  They asked me to just send it in and they would either do there best to fix or replace warrantied parts or if it was completely fubared I could order just the piston section.  They sent out an RMA quick and it went in the mail today.

Just got an email saying the piston was on its way back.  I love working with companies that get things turned around quick and are so helpful.  I had pretty much written this off I can't wait to throw it on a gun.
