First off Im new to the forum and community, thanks for your patience and help. Have a question about a rifle I bought a year ago or more. The guy off armslist I bought it off of says he had it built at CMMG. The lower is DPMS but on the right side of the mag well it has the CMMG Inc Fayette, MO USA. Its machined into the lower like a factory would. Has anyone seen any other rifle like this does it have CMMG parts. They guy said he did nothing to the rifle. It has a tapco stock, UTG ergo pistol grip, full lengh UTG quad rail and a Leapers scope. For what I paid and what I got I think it was a good deal. If anyone has any info please pass it on.....Thanks

While I'm far from the CMMG inner circle they may, at one time, sourced their parts from various places but I'm going to say you give CMMG a call and include the lower's s/n in your inquiry. If you aren't aware of Federal Law regarding the AR the lower, even in stripped condition, is "the gun." Federal law requires the manufacturer of "the gun" to clearly mark their name, state, country of origin and serial number. It is common for gun makers who assemble guns from parts spec.'d from other suppliers to have only one manufacturer listed on the lower, and that is the company assembling the gun. A gunsmith or armorer or citizen (following NFA regs) can assemble a gun for a client (or himself) using a pre-marked lower, but as a rule, no further further identification marking will be made. I'm looking forward to being educated, let us know what CMMG says. Ted |

The bargin bin rifles where a total hodgepodge of our parts and other vendors such as DPMS and Doublestar just to name a few. We would buy up good deals and scratch and dent stuff set them aside to build as bargain bin guns when we would get caught up on normal CMMG products. |
