I just received my brand new CMMG .300 Blackout complete upper from one of my favorite dealers joeboboutfitters.com, first I have to say that the upper is awesome, rifling, fit and finish seem great. But I think I found a problem.
The problem I've found lies in the BCG. The bolt face has what looks like brass and some sort of red material. My first instinct is that it had been fired before I got it. I've attached a picture can someone tell me what might cause this? From all accounts CMMG produces great equipment so I was a little shocked to find this in my upper. The bore looks clean and unused and only 3 dings on the deflector which i can attribute to test firing but I've never seen a bolt look like this. What should I do? http://engravedprints.com/Boltface.jpg |
| Yeah, I wonder if it is a general BCG that they use to test fire rifles and they accidentally left in in. The bore and everything else looks brand new so I can't imagine that the rifle has seen a couple hundred rounds. I'm sure this BCG would work but I paid for a new upper I would prefer a new BCG to go with it. |

That looks about right for a handful of test fire rounds. We've been using some well sealed primed brass for our test fire ammo, the red stuff is primer sealant. Thanks for the quick response for the mutual customer You should be good to go enzonix. Thanks again for the order! |

Thanks for the quick response for the mutual customer You should be good to go enzonix. Thanks again for the order! Update: CMMG has been great! After trading a couple emails and talking to Chris from CMMG they offered to check it out. I sent it to them yesterday and I have confidence in them, if they say it's fine I'll use it as is. I didn't know you guys were on the forums. I love how well the community works together. I love spending money at Joe Bob Outfitters, I get all kinds of questions about the Tshirt when I wear it. I always tell people about the great service and good prices. (The free shirts and hoodies are a good bonus) With this order I was torn, use the discount code or get a free hoodie. Discount won. Maybe next time. |
