| Is there any difference between the SS conversion kits Midway USA sells from what CDNN sells? Or even the non-evolution kits sold on CMMG's website? Basically I want to build a dedicated upper but not spend too much for each component. If I can keep from tripping my wife's spendalert I can slowly put together a functional dedicated .22lr AR under the radar. I've used this process to assemble several other AR's but this 22lr stuff isn't so straight forward. I already have several BDM mags and stripped upper so I plan on the bolt next. If I can pick up a SS conversion I can plink with my 5.56 upper for a month until I can pick up a barrel + collar. Then a month later I can pick up a decent railed free float and so on. I wish CMMG would sell the SS bolt only with dedicated collar instead as a kit with bells and whistles. Anyway, help a brother out with knowledge and or suggestions. |

The ones you see at CDNN are the older, discontinued bolts and do not have the features of the new Evolution bolts such as live round extraction, cotter pin holding the firing pin, push pin extractor, piston compatible, machined for optimal BHOA operation and reliability.
If it's $160, it's the old style Dave N |
| That's what's lacking from CMMG's site. They sell conversion kits and they sell evolution kits. It would be helpful if they compared the two side by side so consumers could make an informed decision. I've been trying to make a decision for a few weeks and without guys like you I would make the wrong one. |
