Well, I unboxed the new 22 conversion, loaded up my 4 mags and headed to the range. It is the NON stainless version.. FYI i took it out of the package.. worked the spring and bolt about 50x by hand and applied a small amount of lube to the rails before i went out.. and no i havent done all the " fixes " yet.. as i have seen a number of these run great out of the box.. and a few not..
I have a Del-ton MOE edition AR-15 and it has been an awesome performer so far.. with about 1000 rounds total down range... dropped the kit in.. put in a mag.. and fired the first round.. boom.. next round.. click.. got a FTF.. hmmm .. dropped the mag and had to pull the bolt out to get the live round out of the barrel.... put the bolt back in.. and loaded up a different mag.. charged the handle.. boom on the first round.. then a click and FTF again.. Also, i am running the Federal 36g value pack ammo. did this a few times before i ran out of time at the range and hit the cease fire break.... dropped my 5.56 bolt back in and worked just fine the next go around.. sorting my way through the forum looking for anyone with a similar experience.. will keep searching.. but if anyone knows the magic answer.. please let me know.. thanks everyone.. kc |

You know what.. i said FTF.. and i think some might take that as a failure to feed.. i should have spelled out.. failure to fire.. I am obviously thinking its some kind of firing pin issue.. hence why i had to break open the rifle and take the bolt out.... to dig in there and extract the unfired live round..
I only had 20 round in all of these magazines i brought one down to about 15 when i was still getting the problem.. just took a look at the |

It sounds more like a frame tension situation. Have you had thechamber adapter off by chance? If the frame isn't tensioned right, you will get light strikes. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Running the federal 550 bulk pack..
I did not do really anything much at all to it before i tried to use it for the first time. Took it out of the package.. moved the action by hand about 50x.. and put a few drops of oil on the rails.. Thats it.. droppe it in.. and gave her a go.. Now since i have been digging in to this tonight.. i have since taken the action apart to look for burrs, anything obvious..etc.. I didnt see anything right off the bat.. |

I saw an issue during testing where my bolt wasn't coming completely back into
battery. I was having to push the forward assist after the first round. This would likely have cleared up with more break in but I didn't want to take the time. The issue was eliminated by changing the rail out with another bolt. Also, I had a lot of Failures to Fire with Federal 36 grain Value Packs. Other ammo brands worked perfectly.... I hit one of the Federal Rounds 7 times at various points and it didn't go bang. It looked like I'd run Crinkle Scissors over it. SpecOps-13 Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Thanks for that info specops..
Your scenario sounds ver similiar to mine.. when you said you changed it out.. did CMMG send you a new part or how exactly did you get the new pieces.. I will do a thorough job cleaning with some brake cleaner... grab some 1500 grit sandpaper.. a brass brush and go at it in the next few days... and then head back out to the range.. will also pick up a few other small boxes of ammo to see.. maybe some CCI's etc.. If runnign through these motions doesnt get me some progress.. i will shoot it back to our friends at CMMG for tuning or replacement.. maybe i will have them upgrade it for the new revisions while its there.. : -) |

I would clean it good, buzz the chamber with a drill and bronze brush, lube, and get some 100 rounds on mini mags to break it in.
I'm assuming you have the Parkerized model. The SST doesn't really require any break in. Be aware, when removing the bolt, you can get the rails out of spec. |
