Hey everyone.....

I recently picked up a new CMMG conversion kit and tried to install it in my DPMS Panther....I hit a snag it would seem.

The back of the kit will not fit flush with the rear of the upper. See pic below....

I have checked some measurements of the kit. The fake shell on the end, dia and length seem okay...the part just behind that measures .564in dia. My friend says his was very close to that .563in. I also noticed that the rails do not touch the chamber face (I think thats what it's called)...see pic.

I figure that my chamber is not at 556 like it's supposed to be..?? I have had no problems with the factory bolt or FTF or FTE with XM193 that I normally use. I disassembled the kit and installed the main body, without chamber adapter, and it slid right in...flush with the upper.

any ideas here?

Thanks,
Mike

Edit:
Sorry for the crappy pics....cell phone is all I had.

Bump.

I had a tight fit like this only it was much closer.  Now my kit is stuck in the CMMG upper I installed it into.  I can't get it out.  Any ideas?

This same kit fit well in my Colt.

With the OP, if it is not dropping in, don't force it.    Generally, there is crud build up somewhere which makes the fit tight.  The instructions cover this.   If cleaning doesn't get it, the usual culprit is the very tip of the adapter is longer than what the chamber is cut for. We can mod the adapter to fit your upper, if you would like to send it.

AR-Poor,  If we get one that is not coming out by pulling the T handle we will gently pry from two different points at the same time.  We wedge a tool between the rear lug and the end-plate as well as a tool between the chamber adapter and the and upper receiver.  Pry both at the same time and it should pop right out.  Once out follow cleaning instructions to remove any crud build up.  Like above, if it doesn't go, don't force it.  We can do a mod if necessary.

Edited to add, if you don't feel comfortable prying it out, we can do it here.

Thanks for your help.  I will give that method a try.
