I have one of your 16" Midlength gas uppers and its popping primers with factory new federal xm193's.
I usually shoot pmc .223's that they have at the range, so never really put through 5.56. Left a message, but haven't heard back from your cust. service dept yet. I know you guys are swamped with work, as is the rest of the industry. I'm hoping this may be a quicker method to communicate with someone at cmmg. What could be the problem? And do i need an RMA number from your company to send in the upper for service? Thanks . Eric. |

Eric, First blush it sounds like an ammo issue ( see general ammo warning link) Ammo Warning For the time being, do not shoot any more of the Federal. Test it with the PMC. If you don't experience any primers being blown, chances are it is the ammo. If you get the same results from the pmc stop shooting immediately. We will issue a call tag and get it replaced. |

After experiencing several popped primers that night, i immediately switched ammo and only used PMC for the rest of the evening. So yes, it shoots fine with the PMC .223. I'll hit the range this weekend and try out some different ammo. However, i will try something other than the pmc .223. One of the reasons i chose a cmmg upper instead of some of the others was that it was chambered in a 5.56NATO and not .223. On a side note, i shot some factory new fiocchi as well that same day, and it popped 1 out of 15 or so. I'll post here again after my next range session. Thanks. Eric. |

Please let us know. You can email [email protected] if you have any further issues.
We have, in the past, had batches of ammo fail. Down in the ammo room, there are 3-4 cases of WWB 5.56 that pops primers that we had to segregate. All barrels are chambered 5.56, so not to worry there. I would like you to email if you do have any other problems. Thanks, Jeff |
